Tuttosport: Milan return against Tottenham seeming unlikely for Ibrahimovic

By Euan Burns -

It is starting to look unlikely that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will make his return from injury in time to face Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League, a report claims.

As has been reported by Tuttosport (via Pianeta Milan), the Swedish striker does not look set to make his AC Milan return any time soon.

The stated aim for a long time for Ibrahimovic was to be involved in the Champions League round of 16 tie against Premier League side Tottenham in March.

He has not kicked a ball for the Rossoneri all season and that could continue beyond the round of 16, meaning there would only be a couple of months left for him to make any impact at all.

The knee is not recovering as quickly as planned for the striker following his surgery in the summer and Pioli could certainly do with having the extra option to call upon in attack.

    1. Zlatan during the last 3 seasons in Serie A alone:
      18 matches: 10+5, goal every 136 mins
      19 matches: 15+2, goal every 99 mins
      23 matches: 8+3, goal every 125 mins

So… Who’s gonna replace him this season? Lazetic with zero goals? Origi with whopping one goal? Rebic who can’t stay fit for a week? CDK? LOL.

Let’s face it. We need Zlatan.

      1. And let’s not forget that Zlatan’s stats for last season went down significantly as he played HALF OF THE SEASON WITHOUT THE OTHER ACL. So he actually played injured and still managed to make a difference. He was more efficient injured than a healthy Origi this season. That says a lot!

      2. A milan fan with common sense, people forget zlatan was milan’s third top scorer despite playing half the minutes of leao and giroud

    2. No. Football should retire. He is a god and still as talented as Ronaldo, and at least he is still playing in Champions League, unlike Ronaldo.

  1. The club cannot rely on strikers who should have retired altogether from competitive games! This a major concern as currently, the team is struggling to win matches simply because there is no competitive striker. This issue is proving to be costing dearly to the prospects of winning the scudetto or keep march in competitions.

Have they taught you math yet in school? If they have, you should read Zlatan’s stats from the post above. If that kind of goal scoring efficiency doesn’t prove he still has plenty to offer, you have no clue about what this sport is all about. And in case you actually don’t, it’s a goal scoring sport where the club scoring more goals than the opponent wins and Zlatan is still providing the goods in that department. Unlike Origi, Rebic, CDK, Lazetic etc.
