After yesterday’s press conference, we have a bit of a clearer idea of where AC Milan are and where they want to be in the future.
You cannot really take too much from press conferences; ultimately, they are only words. However, Ruben Amorim’s official introduction to Milan fans has gotten many dreaming about what the future could look like.

It is difficult not to get carried away when a manager says certain things, especially when speaking about aims for the title. Nevertheless, this is where actions have to back up the words said. So far, you’d suggest the words back up the actions, which is rare to see.

Now, as this morning’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport writes (seen below), there is no low profile about the new Milan. Indeed, they want to be brave and bold and fight for the title. Throughout, Amorim stated his desire was to win the second star.
A fan of the club, there is no hiding like there was last year, and his ambition is clear. If the mercato wasn’t a warning to Inter and the rest of the league, then that was.
It is not just an ambition held by Amorim, too. In fact, Gerry Cardinale also openly admitted his desire to bring ‘AC Milan back‘ to its former state, and the theme of dominating the competition was present throughout.
Both understand that it is a challenge, but they are certainly laying the foundations to be successful. We shall have to see…
I am a realist. I don’t expect us to win the Scudetto this season but I want to see progress that suggest we will win the Scudetto in the next two to three seasons and compete regularly for the next ten seasons. I just wish they would come out and say; this is how we want to play, this squad is poorly assembled, we need these profile of players, it will take two to three transfer markets to fix this.
We saw a clear plan and progress under Maldini and Massara. Sixth place, second place, Scudetto, fourth place and CL semi-final. We saw a clear formation and core of the team. Cardinale inexplicably tore down that progress and achieved second (19 points off first), eighth, and fifth. The team also failed to get out of the group stages of the CL under his new management. This included half a billion spent around 30 players and four coaches coming in, and our futures sold: Tonali, CDK, Reijnders, Theo, Liberali…etc.
As much as it hurts me to even think about waiting one or two more years, this is a very nice comment indeed, kudos to you.
