Internally, AC Milan are already planning for next season, and it appears that the squad will be built for the Champions League – an understandable decision, given the current position.

It would be an incredible catastrophe if Milan were to throw away their chances of entering Europe’s premier competition next season. They have looked comfortable in the top four all season, and they should easily retain that position until the end of the season.

So, planning is beginning for the squad that will take them into this season. Already, there have been suggestions about a large investment in a striker, but what else would be on the cards?

Planning begins

Gazzetta dello Sport, this afternoon, write that there are three main focuses currently. Firstly, the size of the squad, and the suggestion is that the Rossoneri will extend their squad to a number of 27. Inter entered the season with 24, whilst Napoli and Juventus elected to use a 25-man squad.

To achieve this, the Diavolo must have a net plus four increase on their current 23-man team.

In terms of characters, another central defender (maybe two) will be targeted, with a keen eye on someone to cover the left side of the back three. Additionally, a versatile wing-back would be ideal, as would another midfielder. Then, little needs to be said about the striker that everyone so desperately desires.

Balance and chemistry are a must for the team next season, and some players will leave; that cannot be ruled out, especially with Massimiliano Allegri wanting a bit more experience to rely upon.

It seems it will be a big summer, and the Rossoneri are not allowing themselves to fall behind before the window opens.
