From Spain: Milan and Arsenal interested as Real Madrid set price for unwanted playmaker

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan and Arsenal are both interested in signing Isco from Real Madrid but his salary is an obstacle, according to a report from Spain.

ABC are reporting that Isco will not renew his deal with Los Blancos which is all set to expire in June 2022 as he wants to play for another team where he has guaranteed playing time. An asking price of €20m has been set but the main hurdle is the €7m net per season (€13m gross) that the 29-year-old earns.

Arsenal and other Premier clubs are interested while the report also mentions that Milan are keen on signing the four-time Champions League winner. Both clubs can pay that transfer and a salary that with British and Italian taxes is only €10m gross.

Isco wants to sign one last good contract at the age of 29 and prove his worth again as Kroos, Modric, Casemiro and Valverde are all ahead of him in the midfield pecking order at the moment. Isco stood out in the two friendly matches against Fuenlabrada and Rayo Vallecano and is a versatile option.

Real Madrid know his salary creates a certain impediment and that is why they could lower his price from €20m to €18m.
