AC Milan were offered the chance to sign Granit Xhaka from Arsenal by his agent but the midfielder is instead heading to the Bundesliga, we have learned.
It has been widely reported that Xhaka will leave Arsenal at the end of the year and the Swiss player has attracted the interest from a number of clubs in the Premier League, Bundesliga and even Serie A.
As reported by our correspondent Lorenzo Lepore originally for arsenalinformer.co.uk, the deal that will see Xhaka join Bayer Leverkusen now is almost done. The player’s entourage has to give a final response on Saturday, then everything should go through.
However, Leverkusen were not the only team that were contacted. The camp of the Swiss international looked into more opportunities for Xhaka and they even reached out to Milan, who however have different priorities at this stage it seems.
