Mediaset: Milan hold Asensio talks – his entourage’s comments and Real Madrid’s stance

AC Milan are moving concretely to try and sign Marco Asensio from Real Madrid ahead of the 2022-23 season, according to a report.

According to SportMediaset, there has already been a first meeting with the player’s entourage during which a serious proposal was presented, and his representatives responded as follows: “Milan’s interest is a pride, a future in Milan is an option, there are also offers from a couple of English clubs including Arsenal, we are ready to evaluate every possibility.”

Asensio will make a decision on his future more towards the end of the season than right now when his role in the Real Madrid of the future will become clearer. He will meet with president Florentino Perez and will seek guarantees about his playing time, given the potential arrival of Mbappè, the presence of Benzema plus Vinicius and Rodrigo.

His contract expires in June 2023 and Los Blancos have put forwards renewal offer at €5m net per season which he is currently on, so as to avoid losing the player on a free. Real want an answer by the end of the season because if an offer comes from abroad it will be taken into consideration.

Real Madrid are currently hoping for around €25-30m if they are forced to sell – a figure that Maldini will be able to negotiate if a stalemate occurs in renewal talks – and in the meantime the groundwork is being laid after concrete contacts with his entourage.
