Tuttosport: Two of five fully fit – Milan’s attacking department suffering

AC Milan will face Bologna at San Siro tonight with a shortage of options in the attacking department, for various different reasons.

Over the past couple of weeks, since the arrival of Christopher Nkunku from Chelsea, a lot of the talk about Milan’s attack has been about finding away to ensure that all four options play regularly. Rafael Leao, Christian Pulisic and Santiago Gimenez are of course the other three.

Crisis in attack

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) report this morning, perhaps calling it an emergency is going too far, but Massimiliano Allegri’s lack of attacking options is certainly worrying ahead of the third league game of the season.

Of the four players available to the coach mentioned above – five if we include the young Balentien -only two are at 100% and one of them is the teenage winger who arrived this summer from ADO Den Haag.

The other is Gimenez, who – barring any unexpected surprises – will start against Bologna tonight after finding his feet again with his national team. Meanwhile, Leao is injured, Nkunku only has 30 minutes of fitness and Pulisic is tired after his commitments with the USA.

It means that Pulisic and Nkunku should be able to give something off the bench, though the depth is not what Allegri will have been hoping for.

  1. Whatever it takes for 3 points. We understood that with Allegri, it isn’t about playing nice or beautifully it’s about grinding out wins.
