GdS: ‘Amorim and a part-time job’ – Milan attempting to convince Modric to stay

AC Milan are making an effort to keep Luka Modric at the club and the arrival of Ruben Amorim could help with that. 

There have been plenty of suggestions that Milan would lose Modric this summer, but there have been occasional reports that he is not 100% against another season at San Siro. Indeed, Matteo Moretto stated that he is still undecided.

But a decision could be made in the next few days, as Gazzetta dello Sport reports (seen below).

Age catches up

The report starts with a simple message: he has decided to retire from the national team, but whether he will continue with a club remains up in the air. In fact, the next few days will be crucial and he wants to resolve the matter.

He loves the Rossoneri and his heart may tell him to remain with the club for just another year, especially with him unsure if he wants to stop playing football yet. However, he is feeling his age now.

At 40-years-old, he’s ‘no longer the kid’ and he cannot play two games a week.

Modric’s position

There would be a plan in place, though. With the Diavolo, he is doing great. He and his family are happy and the fans love him. Whilst Massimiliano Allegri is not the manager anymore, there could be a solution.

For Ruben Amorim, an idea is forming. Modric ‘wants’ to stay for another season, but he needs to have his doubts eased. Money doesn’t matter, playing time doesn’t matter. The only thing that does is Milan.

So, he hopes for talks with the club to discuss the idea moving forward, especially the words from the new coach. Right now, it would seem a sporadic usage of the Croatian would be most beneficial for all parties.

If he feels comfortable, he’ll stay. It is that simple.
