AC Milan are looking for a new striker ahead of the summer, and AZ Alkmaar’s Troy Parrott has ended up on their list.

Milan continue to be linked with a number of centre-forwards in view of the upcoming mercato. The flavour of last week was Fiorentina’s Moise Kean, while this morning Tuttosport spoke of a meeting taking place over Mateo Retegui.

Parrott on Milan’s radar

According to the Independent, Milan are ‘looking at Troy Parrott’ for the summer, and AZ Alkmaar are believed to be open to selling him if they were to receive a bid that is in the region of £25m, or around €29m.

The 24-year-old is ‘looking to make the next step in his career’ amid a season in which he has racked up 39 goals in all competitions, in just 44 games for club and country. At club level, he has 27 goals and nine assists in 39 appearances.

The Dutch club are ‘open to a move’ because their model is that they ‘naturally see the logic in selling such talents and regenerating’. The Independent also claim that Real Betis, Wolfsburg and Fulham have shown an interest, but the Rossoneri are ‘monitoring’ his form.

He could return to the Premier League – having been at Spurs – but only if a team in the top half were interested. While Milan are watching him, there is ‘understood to even be the possibility that could attract city rivals Internazionale’s interest’.

It is believed that the Rossoneri are admirers not only of his obvious goal scoring prowess but also his versatility, given that Parrott has played across the forward line and in multiple systems.

  1. Please don’t. I’m from the Netherlands, I watch Eredivisie, it’s a really really bad competition. Also made Santi look like a god. This guy is not better than Santi, we need a different profile. A strong striker like Dzeko was for Inter in his prime. Whatever happened to that Kostic guy from Partizane? He keeps scoring goals.

      1. At least it’s more physical. Dutch competition is more like the Bundesliga, where strikers get more time and space. You see it with Gimenez. He’s a good striker in a 3-man attack, but he falls way too short in Allegri’s system

  2. Well it’s a reputable source but I’d be very surprised based on our last big money, free scoring Eredivisie signing.

Did not realise this is where he’d gone after Spurs but another scouting fail case where someone moves for 8M and then less than one season later apparently we’re interested at 30M.

  3. Please stop buying players from farmer leagues, we already have the bad experence with : Jashari, Jimenez…

  4. Because the last striker from Eredivizie worked out so well for us? Italian league is tough on foreign attackers and the gap in quality between Holland and Italy is sizable.

  5. No more English players, please no more. No defense is played in die eredivisie either. I love watching it because of that. But their players clearly aren’t cut out for Serie A, unless you find a truly world beating footballer.

  6. Milan problem isn’t about the strikers… It’s more about creating chances… Haaland is a top striker, but without service he is not different from our current strikers.
