It appears as though AC Milan will have to battle some very strong competition if they are to win the race for Dusan Vlahovic.
Vlahovic was heavily linked with a move to Milan during the summer transfer window but did not end up going anywhere, despite being in the final year of his deal at Juventus. An exit next summer appears likely, and a free transfer is understandably a tempting opportunity.

Barcelona and Bayern in the running
According to Tuttosport, Vlahovic’s name is also among Barcelona’s ideas for the centre-forward position. In Catalonia, they’re already thinking about the future given that Robert Lewandowski’s contract expires on June 30th and no agreement has yet been reached on a renewal.
As the weeks go by, the likelihood of Lewandowski leaving on a free grows – and he is linked with Milan – which is why the Blaugrana management is already beginning to scour the market for potential successors.

So, what could all this lead to? Vlahovic’s name is among two or three profiles on Barcelona’s initial shortlist. However, they are now alone because Bayern Munich have already inquired about Dusan, intending to sign a top-tier striker to rotate with Harry Kane.
A back-up role does not appeal to Vlahovic, which is why Barca could find themselves ahead in the race. Milan have made ‘some enquiries’ about the Serbian forward, but at the moment one thing seems certain: the ex-Fiorentina star will leave Juve, because of a ‘rift that has never been mended’.

At this point of their careers I would prefer us signing Vlahovic but I’ll be honest here in the last 15 years even with players like C.Ronaldo and Messi, Lewandowski is probably the player I’ve been most envious of other clubs owning as I always saw him as a sort of modern day heir to Van Basten.
Anyways I would welcome either of them with open arms but I’ll only believe it when I see it.
While I do like Lewandowski I think he is asking for too much money for Milan to pay to a 38 year old. He is paid more than our whole midfield added up.
I absolutely agree that it seems unfeasible to sign the Polish player as he would have to make a huge financial sacrifice to join us. Player wise though it would be a statement signing just as Vlahovic would be as well.
I don’t think either are going to arrive, but I think it’s interesting that we seem to have pivoted from mostly signing 20 year olds to signing a larger number of players 30+. I’m not mad at it, as I think a mix is a good thing, but hopefully they don’t over do it as part of the initial reason we fell into banter was because Berlusconi and Co were hanging on to the past by signing a bunch of expensive veteran free agents without minding young promising players.
Neither do I really believe that they will arrive and I do also think the right mix of ageing and young players isn’t a bad thing but as you mentioned only as long as we doesn’t over do it. Theoretically adding a player like Lewandowski would be a top shelf pick whereas those who arrived towards the end of Berlusconis ownership hardly was in that category in my view at least not in the 2010s.
