CM.it: Milan monitoring €75m Barcelona midfielder’s situation but Man Utd lead race

By Oliver Fisher -

Frenkie de Jong is no longer central to Barcelona’s project and AC Milan are one of the clubs monitoring his situation, a report claims.

Calciomercato.it report that the Dutchman has never been seen as a crucial member of the starting XI by Xavi and that is why a sale is possible in the summer especially with Barcelona’s need to raise cash to fund other signings.

A €75m asking price has been set for the former Ajax star who is attracting the interest of Juventus but now also Milan, who under the new ownership of Investcorp may not be ‘frightened’ by the requests, which are always negotiable.

However, Bayern Munich and Manchester United appear to be the most credible destinations for De Jong especially with Erik Ten Hag – his coach at Ajax – joining the Red Devils in the summer and with United in need of signings for the midfield department.

  1. It’s obviously just paper talk, however he would be the perfect Kessie replacement. And maybe with Franck heading to Camp Nou, it’s true they would entertain bids for FDJ

Let’s see once the takeover happens. I’d like to dream we can get players of the calibre of FDJ but realistically we’ll prob end up with Renato Sanches

  2. We don’t need him, just sign RW and AMF with that money. Or use that money 70m euro to sign Darwin Nunez. Our double pivot can be filled by tonali, bennacer, pobega, adili, krunic

  3. Stop making things up. Milan won’t be signing players for €70 million. That type of irresponsible spending is what got the club into debt.

    1. Yeah. Funny how some people here think it’s a wonderful idea to splash out 70M€ on one single player as that would suddenly solve everything.

Just look at the most expensive players Milan has bought in the recent years and look where they got us and where they are now. Bacca, Piatek, Caldara, A.Silva, L.Paqueta & Bonucci.

Yeah. Money well spent. So let’s pay TWICE AS MUCH for a single player than we did on Bonucci. That will bring lots and lots of trophies, right?!

  4. Some great comments here already. Clearly no real Milan fan wants to take this approach and bankrupt the club. There is amazing value players out there, we just need to scout them. Good players on Bosmans too. Personally id like to get Lingaard. We need to use Bosmans to our advantage not just lose players.

  5. The only big investment I would support and Endorse is Darwin Nunez. We do need a ST that is consistent and hardworking and Nunez Fits the profile.

De jong is good of course, but we don’t need a 70m investment in a position where we have more than enough options. I

f we really need to reinforce midfield, I would wish for Tchouameni from Monaco. Exceptionally talented. He is capable of making us forget all about Kessie.

If we have 300M transfer Budget next season..

Darwin Nunze (75M) for ST, Nkuku(70M)/De Kateleare(30M) for CAM, Berardi(24M)/Antony(40M) for RW. with Botman (30M) in CB And we are set for next season.

From playerSales/Sponsors if we can get enough cash, we can go for Tchouameni(~40M). If Tchouameni is too expensive, then Maxence is an alternative.

    Forza Milan
