AC Milan, this morning, have begun talks with Bologna regarding a move for their midfielder, Giovanni Fabbian.
There were several errors with Milan on Saturday night. They were poor when it mattered defensively, and they had no attacking output. However, there was another big issue which needs fixing quickly, and that regards the midfield.

Luka Modric was a standout, but he was a little wasted in a deeper role. Ultimately, the Croatian was not able to pick apart the opposition from his deeper role. Nevertheless, with two other players ahead of him, there should have been no issue. Yet, there was.
A new midfielder?
So, off the back of that result, Massimiliano Allegri and Igli Tare met at Casa Milan to discuss the end of the mercato, and there have been a few ideas since. One was a new striker, one was a new defender, and the third was a new midfielder arriving.
Today, then, the Rossoneri have made contact with Bologna, per Pietro Balzano Prota, regarding a move for their midfielder Giovanni Fabbian.
Though Matteo Moretto adds to this information, suggesting that it is not exploratory, with an official bid being considered within the next few hours. The Italian’s arrival would be seen as an opportunity to strengthen the midfield.

He is really good. But I wonder why we bought the others if he needs to come in. Neither Ricci or Jashari got to play with Modric.
Because Tare isn’t the magician. Jashari completely unnecessary purchase, could have spent that money on 15M midfielder and added 25 for the striker.
Sure what’s your problem with jashari the boy is great player we didn’t even give him a chance to prove and here you are complaining we can complain about alegri for his wrong choices
He doesn’t do a whole lot other than complain about literally everything🤷♂️
🤣🤣🤣
Casa Milan, 24/08/25
Allegri: “I need a centre back and a striker.”
Management: “We got you bro.”
@MatteMoretto: Allegri has requested a midfielder who can also push forward in attack and contribute goals.
So, RLC is not that guy. Well as long as we can offload Musah, Isma, and Adli, another midfield reinforcement should be fine.
Another evidence of how dysfunctional is the management. Hiring Allegri is just another PR move. His scheme is atrocious and doesn’t fit the players. Modric, Ricci and Jashari look like the best midfielders recruited these past years, alongside Tonali and Reijnders, but the coach doesn’t need all of them. Insanity.
Sure, hiring the most successful coach in Serie A of the past decade was a ‘PR move’.
That’s exactly why he’s a PR move. Back to reality, he already crashed at home against a promoted club with its defensive obsession and offensive inabilities.
José Mourinho was once the best coach in the world and now he’s in Turkey. Ask Juventus fans what they think of Allegri in this decade.
I told here too several times that Ricci’s and Jashari’s role is too familiar. Although each of ’em has particular characteristic. If the management really hear and want to satisfy Allegri, both Dusan and Rabiot should’ve been here already.
Not saying that I like both of ’em (although I stil believe Dusan can still offer more, he just scored yet another goal btw), but if we really want to trust the Allegri’s work, don’t do it half way.
they are different players.allegri just decided to use them in same role.jashari is far more forward minded than ricci who is more comfortable sitting infront of the defence.jashari and fofana shud be sharing same role but its like allegri prefers taller guys going forward.
Yep. I wanted Maresca last summer and Farioli this summer. Young coaches, fresh ideas, good results. Oh well.
Menagement: No you don’t, you need midfielders, lots of midfielders to learn from Modric and sell them for profit…because profit is sexier than trophies !!!
Sure, they spent all that money just to sell on these players. You absolute plank. Did you miss the last 2 decades of Serie A in which almost every big name went to another league? It started happening under Berlusconi. Would you rather the players weren’t sold and clubs went backrupt?
Milan’s problem majorly is at the back, there’s no leader amongst those clueless defenders on Saturday.
Even older experienced defender would be great. And I hope Harder is not only striker what we sign this summer, there is also need experienced… They should try to sign Immobile when there was a space..
Use de winter ,stop using Tomori pls
Anyone who was in the stadium?
Heard curva sud (wearing t-shirts with curva sud) guys were all over the stadium telling fans to stop singing.
Real fans. More important to have it their way than letting fans sing.
They are showing their true colours, it’s green$ most definately not red & black
Source?
A guy in a Swedish forum was there.
He said they stood around the stadium wearing curva sud t-shirts telling people to stop singing.
I’m sure you were singing even after the loss. Had a great time.
Tell me your’re a RedBird troll without telling me you’re a RedBird troll.
If this guy comes, the midfield will be crowded.
I think RLC should be sold and CHukweze also
Of course it won’t work. Having Modrić in a deep role with two headless chickens in Fofana and RLC on each side is completely unbalanced.
Allegri thinks he’s got his new Pjanić with Modrić. Luka was never a deeplying playmaker, not even in Madrid. He had Kroos next to him who was acting as one. Then they had one of Casemiro/Tchouameni and Valverde who did all the dirty, tireless work around.
Jashari – Ricci – Modrić is our only balanced option for our midfield. But guess what, there are no proper subs for neither of them on the bench. Which brings us back to the fact how badly this team was constructed for the past two seasons. Fofana, RLC, Musah? Lmao, I’d rather have Poli, Montolivo and Bertolacci there. And I hated Montolivo.
How are those three balanced?
There’s no movement.
Sure Modric once could’ve played alongside a Kroos but he’s 40 now. He’s going to be a deep lying playmaker.
Ricci is a deep lying DM so there’s two deep-lyers.
Is Jashari expected to provide the movement?
He looks like he’s dropping deep too.
RLC is the only viable option for movement and physicality in midfield.
And he didn’t even do that bad. He nearly scored. I’ve really no idea why ‘everyone’ agrees he was awful (more awful than the rest).
RLC doesn’t add anything apart from running. No end product to his “ball carrying”. Same goes for Fofana and Musah.
Modrić is the technical guy with vision who needs to play further up front, Ricci organizes the backline and Jashari brings the movement and muscles.
“RLC doesn’t add anything apart from running. ”
And he only runs towards the opponent’s goal. His defensive-work is non-existing.
That’s what defensive midfielders are for.
I know the imaginary midfielder in your head does everything.
Hey at this rate they can sign two whole new midfields this summer. A double revolution.
“That’s what defensive midfielders are for.
I know the imaginary midfielder in your head does everything.”
WAKE THE F*** UP! 😀
Defensive midfielders? You mean the other midfielders? Modric and Fofana? Those _DEFENSIVE_ midfielders??!!!! OOOOOOKEY THEN! 😀 😀 😀
I don’t know if you’ve noticed but we don’t have “defensive midfielders” in the starting-11. When you lack such specialists the players are asked to do more than one specific task. In short, all midfielders defend. All midfielders attack. That’s how it’s supposed to work. Not putting your faith in “Fofana will defend for Modric & RLC”. 😀 😀 😀 😀
Well RLC has a proven record scoring goals and providing assists as evidenced by two seasons ago.
He also got into good positions on Saturday and nearly scored, and provided an assist.
It could’ve gone differently.
The level of hatred directed at home is bizarre.
Sure, when he played almost as an SS, near to the goal. But in midfield he’s nothing but a number. Adds nothing to the midfield.
RLC was atrocious last game. Wake up
HERE WE GO AGAIN!!!! THE “PROVEN CHAMPION” THING. Miss the almighty Calabria? And Krunic? The proven champions. GOATS.
“He also got into good positions on Saturday and nearly scored, and provided an assist.”
And before and after those incidents he played a fng awful match and was one of the reasons why Milan conceded twice.
Hatred? Criticism isn’t hate. I don’t know the guy. I’ve never talked with him. I have nothing against him as a human and I don’t hate him. I’m critical on his contribution to the team. He isn’t doing what he’s supposed to do.
He does.
He offers physicality, and outlet when the team is trying to get out of its half.
He’s put in some great performances over the years including for Chelsea against Milan.
The thing about all of these criticisms of ALL of these players is that the reality is none of them can perform at their potential.
The squad is a mess, the club shows no loyalty to its players including its captain and vice captain from the last few years, it changes players like I change my socks, it signs players that don’t fit together….I mean Messi would struggle in this mess.
This is why all the vitriol directed at the players is so misguided (and shocking from self-identified fans).
Sure there are some players I struggle with. Estupinan was unfathomable on Saturday. But you really can’t judge players based on this mess.
I mean we did conceded on Saturday because of him. He’s suppose to cover there. That’s it about his physical presence when the team needs to get our of its half. He’s not there.
He had one good season in Chelsea under Sarri and even then he got injuried. The only game he really performed for us was against PSG and guess what happened after. Yeah, he got injuried.
A mess created by this ownership is completely different thing and you should know I am one of the most vocal fans against them but this has nothing to do with the fact RLC is a Fulham starter at the most.
It’s kind of funny backing RLC who was one of the worst against Cremonese but bash Estupinan who assisted for our goal. It’s really contradictory.
Fulham couldn’t wait to get rid of him by the end of the season.
Players will miss runs. It happens.
In the history of football, it happens. The question really is how often is happens, and more importantly what is wrong with the system that caused it to happen.
The latter really is the only question that anyone on here should be asking.
Rather than speculating on ‘levels’. Calling someone (who plays for Milan and has won championships and European trophies, and scored 10 goals in his debut season ‘Fulham level’ is clearly ridiculous.
Buddy, tell me you dont watch games without saying it💀😂 rlc provides literally nothing. Did you watch last game at all? He might as well have been a tree
Did you miss the goal he nearly scored?
Yeah, and Leao would have scored if he played. And Giroud would have scored too if he was still at Milan. IFs and BUTs have zero effect on the actual outcome. RLC did not score. RLC was involved in gifting goals to Cremonese. End of story. That’s all that matters. Not IFs. He did not score. Period. He didn’t help the team. Period.
You milan fans need to change your mentality, it this type of thinking that we can never sign a haaland before they hatch, you guys always want a old experience player for short term success, or say otherwise give our amateur youth players like cutrone the start, Italians are not producing good youth forward, all the types are mostly poacher, if harder is signed it means our mentality have changed, we can start thinking of getting the next star, before they become big, am not saying harder is a guarantee success, but he clearly has more potential than carmada who is just a poacher, if we start signing talent like this, serie a might have a chance of winning the ucl again, because clearly we can’t fork 80m for a player, but signing them young for 20-30m is good, just like jashari, I love the new idea, it Serie a only chance of winning the ucl, we need the ucl otherwise good players, in their prime won’t want to come, to this league, we are the last to win the ucl among the big 5 league, hopefully the club sign antonio nusa next.
Dead set biggest idiot in front of a keyboard.
We need to win now.
Fofana, RLC and Musah has to go. Sign Fabian and Guerra. Also sign Vlahovic and 2 defenders. Pavlovic is a joke and Gabbia is weak in the box on crosses.
Saturday was RLCs big moment – easy opposition, fully fit, fully backed by the manager, and he blew it. Someone like Fulham, West Ham or a Bundes Liga team with a sniff of top four would probably lap him up – time to move on.
I still believe we’ve signed well this summer. The fact that we are now scrambling with a week to go only shows how badly (Reijnders and Pulisic aside) we’ve signed for the last two seasons before this one. Musah and Chuk are no where near top level players, RLC as above, Pav is a liability, Fofana makes far too many wrong decisions for a player in such a vital role at a top club, Gimenez the duty is still out but being harsh, he has one job and he’s not doing it.
I think the reality is setting in that this summer wasn’t just about improving certain positions, it needed to be full on ‘knock it down and start again’.
Sorry what exactly were you expecting for RLC?
He moved the ball around, made runs in behind, put crosses in, and nearly scored.
What more do people want?
RLC is the least of the worries as he at least has different characteristics to the others including the three almost identical players the club signed this summer.
What movement are Modric, Ricci and Jashari going to offer?
They can pass, but to who?
RLC is the only one who can break the lines (and Fofana but his end product is pretty terrible).
Maybe two of the triplets plus RLC might work.
I don’t know it’s a mess.
Where did I say Ricci or Jashari would offer movement?
I’ve been saying all summer that what’s missing in my opinion is that dynamic advanced midfielder who can create spaces for Modrić and probably Jashari (because he’s a lovely passer of the ball) to exploit. I know you’re an RLC fan and to be fair he currently is the only person who can half do the role I described, but he can half do it, it’s not good enough.
We agree on one thing, it’s a mess.
Sorry you didn’t say that but you see where I was going.
My starting point with players is that none of them are playing to their potential so it’s hard to judge.
RLC has put in some big performances for Milan and had a very impressive goal and assist record in his first season.
After that he’s had injuries. On Saturday he wasn’t the worst player. He probably was the third best. But none of them were good. Apart from Modric who is a different class.
I think we need to give the whole squad a chance to see how they go under Allegri. He’s a good coach. But the squad is a mess.
RLC and allegri messed up the match.RLC is just a runner with very very limited vision.against low block teams,a runner is useless.we need guys with vision.its why modric shud have played further up and with ricci sitting infront of the defense.against a team like psg RLC movement and physicality will always be useful like against liverpool in preseason cos there is enough space to exploit with his running.he has his own potentials too,but against a team like cremonese,he shud be a sub.allegri also had d opportunity to shift modric up and add ricci to help secure d mid incase of counter but he instead removed d only midfield creator and added jashari infront of defense.a defensive mentality while we needed to win.am still no convinced abt this coach cos he has no excuse with this squad he has
As usual there is too much hype in the summer. Loftus-Cheek has never been a good player. He was targeted by the previous management to be a bench option. He had flashes during his first season but he was mostly invisible. Relying on him is madness.
Besides Ricci, Jashari and Modric, the signings are not worthy of Milan and the coach doesn’t know how to use them all. Maybe Estupinan can be useful, let’s see. Athekame’s transfer is concerning. De Winter is an average Serie A centre back but at least he has Serie A experience. Considering the holes in the team, it’s at best an average mercato.
I like De Winter so I’d add him to your list of three. We are still a starting CB short though. Estupinan has the tools but needs to get on with proving it, and Athekame feels more like a back door / no fan fair / let’s see how it goes kind of transfer – I don’t think we’ll see much of him unless it turns out we won the lottery and he’s brilliant.
But absolutely, theirs still holes f**king everywhere!!!
there are no holes, just striking role maybe but then leao has proven he can fill d space and since he wont mark we can totally convert him to cf.i rather we get one more winger plus saelemakers for the left wing.he was so so amazing with his movements last match plus he can track back.allegri just needs to see all these and stop wasting d potential of the team by playing defensively
What’s the record for the most midfielders signed by a club in history?
Milan must be near the top.
This is farcical.
I’m starting to suspect it’s not Tare who is handling the transfer market, but the good old Geoffrey “The Algorithm” Moncada, probably listening to the whispers in his year from Furlani.
How many times, there’s no algorithm. Stop embarrassing yourself. Go ahead and list which metrics these players were signed on? You can’t. Furlani only deals with contracts, he doesn’t identify targets. Furthermore, the signings have been excellent. Even when there’s no reason to complain, toxic filth like you find a reason to moan. Fake fan.
Oh, boy, the RedBird PRS are even angrier this season. Seems like bossman isn’t happy with your service. Try name-calling some more, it will certainly strengthen your argument.
There is no need for milan,to hold loftus cheeks.
Dear Fulham, Sunderland or Brighton, please relieve us of utter garbage like: Loftus Chick, Fofana ( who shoots with the ball finishing in the 2nd or 3rd ring of San Siro), Chukwueze, Musah and parasite Bennacer ( 4 mln yearly, plays 2 matches and gets injured )
Some guys are so quick to bash. It was the first game of the season. Relax, have faith. In time we’ll get better results and players will get used to each other.
