AC Milan have begun talks with the agents of Napoli midfielder André-Frank Zambo Anguissa over a free transfer, a report claims.

MilanNews24 write that the Milan management are considering a move in advance for next season: initial contact has been made with the entourage of Anguissa, a Napoli midfielder whose contract is expiring in less than 12 months.

Anguissa linked again

The Cameroonian midfielder’s contractual situation makes the possibility particularly tempting. Anguissa is a player with a lot of Serie A experience and is someone that has actually been linked with Milan in the past, both while he was at Fulham and then after his move to Naples.

Milan are understood to be ‘monitoring the situation closely’ but without any concrete negotiations at this time. Initial contact with the club’s representatives are necessary to understand the margins and terms of a potential deal.

The midfielder would fit the profile that the club are looking for: a physical, experienced player, ready to bring balance to the team. The possibility of a free transfer would also free funds to allocate towards other competitions.

However, everything will depend on Napoli’s next moves too, because they could try to reach an agreement over a renewal which would obviously make any potential summer pursuit a lot more complicated.

  1. I like Anguissa but age and recent reoccurring injuries is just a gamble, and this will further cut the game time of the youths unless Modric is leaving at the end of the season

    1. We need experienced I do t think he will take up our youth play time because hes injury prone . This is a smart move

  2. I don’t know if this is a smart move because last season and even up until this summer Milan was pursuing Issa Doumbia from Venezia but we allowed Sporting Lisbon to get him for only 23m.

Anguissa is a finish player. I would rather a younger profile like Doumbia.

  3. If he will still be available for free in January, then I think it is too good of an opportunity to pass on it. Modric will quit after this year and I think he could fit into that role. He is around 30 if I am not mistaken and he should have at least 3-4 years in the tank at elite level. Then we can spend the transfer budget on some other positions instead
