Sky Germany: Milan begin talks with Xhaka’s entourage over move – the details

AC Milan, this evening, have held talks with Granit Xhaka’s entourage, according to reports from Germany. However, there is a lot to be done.

A move for Xhaka represents a lot of what the ‘new’ Milan could be. Adding an experienced option to the midfield, rather than gambling on another unknown prospect. Of course, this can go well, but the Rossoneri have struggled in recent years to be successful with these purchases.

So, Massimiliano Allegri is seeking more from his buys than just a chance of success. After winning the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen and proving his quality in the Premier League before that, Xhaka delivers that.

Talks begin

As Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany reports this evening, the Swiss midfielder’s entourage have begun talks with the Diavolo. However, it is not the last that the parties will say, with another meeting planned in the ‘coming days’.

The Leverkusen player sees Milan as an interesting option, but there is no desire to leave Germany just yet; everything is at an early stage. In fact, Plettenberg clarifies further that there have been ‘no offers, agreements, or decisions at this stage,’ especially with his current club wanting to keep him.

Interestingly, the journalist added that the move for Luka Modric will not affect the interest, so if successful, both could feature in the Rossoneri’s midfield next season.
