Tuttosport: Milan leadership divided on potential signing of striker on a free transfer

By Oliver Fisher -

Andrea Belotti remains a potential option for AC Milan to reinforce their attacking department while also saving on a big transfer fee, a report claims.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) reports that view of the 2022-23 season the Milan management know that they are likely to need to sign a striker, also based on the decision that will be made on the renewal of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Among Milan’s ideas for next season’s attack is Andrea Belotti as well as a couple of younger and more expensive options, and the Italy international could land at Milanello on a free transfer given that his contract with Torino expires on June 30 and there is nothing to suggest that he will extend.

However, the paper goes on to state that at the moment the profile of ‘Il Gallo’ is not convincing all the members of the Rossoneri leadership, perhaps because of his age (28) or his recent injury problems.

  1. He may have peaked already but, he is a true Milanista and that means he will die on the field if necessary. We had plenty of stars, and mercenaries, we could try this as well. Just don’t give him number 9 ffs.

  2. Belotti is a power forward that will add the spark to our attack.

He is miles ahead of “a couple of younger and more expensive options” on my list.

    Sign 100%.

  3. For next year, we need players in defense, midfield, and on the wing which will cost a lot. Might as well go for Belotti in attack since he’s free.

    1. I agree and pretty much everything points towards to that we will sign him if we are to improve other areas as well. In the end though im generally in favour of our management and has trust in their decisions is for the overall betterment of the club as we have come a long way since they arrived. When that is said not getting belotti would be a damn shame and downright unintelligible from my viewpoint.

  4. In reality, he isn’t more than 6 out of 10. It depends what are they looking for. If you need a 15-20 goal striker for the next 3 years he could be that, that is his upper limit. If we want a top striker or someone with that potential it will cost 40-60M. I would honestly prefer if we didn’t sign Belotti and got someone with more potential who can still score 15 goals per season, there are a few players like that would be available next summer.

  5. Just sign him for free, he can improved, use the money to bring botman,Lang,Sanchez/kamara. Give this belotti 4 years contract with 3 or4 m euro/years, after that you can sell or release him if he is flop. All the target striker are over price such as Isaak 80m euro,Jonathan David 70m euro, scamacca 40m euro, better save money for striker and sign belotti free

  6. God! He is free! He is Italian and he plays for the National team, experienced in Serie A af, he is a skilled player and great person. No conflicts, no struggles, no troubles with discipline. He is a fan of the club and a leader by nature. And he is 28 only which is a prime age. He can play another 3-4 seasons on his best.
The only risk here is the money we pay him as salary. How much for a two-year contract? 6-7 or 8 million? Considering we were ready to extend the same age Calhanoglu for the same amount of money, it is nothing.
There’s a big-big chance we will sign the future leader of our attack for 0 euro. Just get him asap and then, if something goes wrong, we can sell him to Toronto and even make a profit.

  7. In Italy, the older players (28+ years) only get better. Ibra, Buffon, Pirlo, Seedorf, Chiellini, Di Natale, Totti, etc are just a few who showed (s) quality after 30 years. Belotti could be another

  8. All great replies.

I think he also deserves a chance to finally try in bigger club

Milan best times where when they signed players others would claim to be either risk or spent: Weah as 1st African, Stam and Cafu as too old, Seedorf as too conflict prone..

Belotti perfect for next season as 1st option, then he replaces Giroud as backup

  9. You can’t get a better striker for that kind of money anywhere! Would be idiotic to splash out 40M€ on Isak or even more on Jonathan David who both have scored zero goals in Italy (where it’s far more difficult to score than any other league). With Belotti you know what you get.
