A Bola: Milan watch €50m striker score for Benfica – Bayern and Man Utd scouts also present

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan were one of the top European clubs to have a scout present to watch Benfica striker Darwin Nunez in action recently, according to a report.

There is a lot of speculation doing the rounds suggesting that that the Rossoneri management will look to reinforce the attacking department with a strong centre-forward for the future during the summer transfer window, even though Olivier Giroud is going through a purple patch and Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s future remains uncertain.

According to A Bola (via Calciomercato.it), Milan had a scout present to watch 22-year-old Benfica striker Darwin Nunez score during their 3-1 win away against Tondela. However, so were representatives from Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Manchester United.

Nunez is having a fantastic season with 21 goals in 26 appearances across all competitions, but the Lusitanian club will not sell him for less than €50m, which would make him their third most expensive sale after Joao Felix who went to Atletico Madrid for €120m and Ruben Dias who joined Manchester City for €68m.

The Uruguay international is also aiming to be the top scorer in the Portuguese league, with 16 goals in 17 games at an average of 0.94 goals per game.

  1. Get Botman forget R.Sanchez we have Pobega returning and get Nunez offer 40 millions plus like 15 millions in bonus and Benfica accepts!

    1. Don’t even get Botman. Save the cash and just renew Romagnoli. Then get a striker and either RW or AM. Simple. Effective. Done.

      1. I really agree with this and would say don’t even get an AMC as we have Adli coming in. Spend it all on a world class striker and a world class RW and we’ll be off to the races.

      2. Even as Sanches fan, I can agree to that.

Darwin really fits our style of play. Richer teams want him, but we can offer starting place + stronger league than bundesliga, manu is a mess now.

We can manage with Pobega and Bennacer after Kessie leaves. A good CB is also not that hard to find, Botman is a better version of Romagnoli. We could secure Omeragic for leftovers after we get Darwin

  2. Use whatever money we have available to get Alexander Isak — the young Swede will be a world class striker for many years to come. He can help us not only get to Champions League but really advance in CL too, maybe even win it all. Watch La Liga or Sweden national team if you haven’t seen him play. Very special player with great pace but many different types of scoring skills and ability.

  3. Isak was 6th in La Liga in goals last year (only 21 years old last year) behind Messi, Moreno, Benzema, Luis Suarez and En-Nesryi.

And 3rd in La Liga in goals per minute played (behind only Messi and Benz).

  4. Nunez tall, strong, fast, skillful, just like ibra in his 20’sh. Will be great signing as he could rotate with Giroud and Ibra next season. Should we sign bellotti would be a replacement for rebic i suppose.

  5. Let’s see how Belotti case works out.
If we can land him on free, and then we do not need him as we’ll have Ibra (of course if he gets a new deal), Colombo or Luan Capanni (primavera), Giroud too and Lazetic.

Why we have to spend lots of cash if we have promising talents to crop out from Primavera.

Pobega will return (with the big chance we’ll going to lose Kessie), Sanches if the deal goes smooth as we thought.
