CM: Milan consider Bennacer’s renewal important but gap must be bridged – the latest

By Oliver Fisher -

Once the transfer window closes Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara will shift their attention to renewals again, and Ismael Bennacer will be a focus.

Calciomercato.com report how the Algerian midfielder’s contract expires in 2024 and Milan consider him to be a very precious element in their team given his role and the way he has grown since arriving from Empoli in the summer of 2019.

For Pioli, Bennacer is an irreplaceable resource and Maldini and Massara have long understood the importance of securing his long-term future. The talks have begun over a renewal, but at the moment there is a distance between the offer on the table and the demands of Bennacer.

Milan are offering a pay rise from his current €1.7m net per season to €3m but Bennacer wants €4m per year to extend. It is not an insurmountable distance, and the idea is to continue together, but it will take a bit of compromise.

  1. 4mill is definitely not an issue, but dude has injury concerns, unlike Theo and Leo he cannot be relied on heavily throughout a season.

  2. this is the issue/problem. We lost Kessie for free. Missed out on a great opportunity out to sign Sanches for a min fee (15m) considering his age and talent because we put in a low ball offer at 3.2M (which gave him pause and allowed PSG to sneak in) instead of aggressively at 4-4.5M – and now we are low balling Benny at 3M? Lol. Give him the 4M. Teams would gladly pay that amount. Now we definitely cannot afford to lose him. He’s within our wage cap and isn’t asking for crazy money. Give him the 4M straight away and make him happy. He WANTS to stay. No drama needed. Otherwise we will be in the same position as before and we don’t have the $ to sign a replacement. Sign him up for 4M increase/double his release clause – then if we absolutely need to sell you do it from a position of strength. 4M is nothing to EPL clubs or even a clubs like Juve. We better not fuck this one up too.

    1. Mbappe fc give renato 6m euro not 4,5m euro . I dont think that will be wise to go salary war with them . Confirmed by anto vitiello milanews journalist. Benna deserved 4m euro nett but he need to work with his fitness ( often injury)

      1. Bennacer injured only the last season and also with covid he lost some matches nevertheless he is not injury prone kind of player. He will injure the opposite team players with his crazy tackles.

Don’t forget the quality of our medical team and sometimes our San Siro ground too bad to play.
It’s not Bennacer problem, it’s the management who has to asses why many players have injuries all the year.
