Bologna defender Arthur Theate is an option for AC Milan in defence after they missed out on the signing of Sven Botman, a report claims.
As has been reported by Milan News today, the Belgian defender could be pursued by the Rossoneri as they seek more depth in the centre of defence.
It had seemed for a very long time that Inter would sign Botman from Lille but the fee continued to rise and now the player is set to join Premier League side Newcastle United instead.
That has left Milan assessing other targets for the centre of their defence and the 22-year-old Theate is an option.
He made 31 appearances for Bologna last season which was his first for the Rossoblu having joined on loan from KV Oostende. That move becomes permanent on July 1 for a fee of €5.4 million.
He could provide a cheaper option to add depth both at centre-back but also at left-back.
