CorSport: ‘Bondo or Belahyane to change formation’ – Milan plot midfield moves

AC Milan have once again struggled for balance in the first part of the season under Paulo Fonseca, and some midfield moves are reportedly being planned.

As Corriere dello Sport (seen below) reports this morning, what has been most striking about Fonseca’s Milan so far is the total lack of balance in the side. The multitude of goals that they are conceding is not sustainable, with so many of them coming in transition too.

Thus, Milan could decide to morph tactically again Fonseca teased by the idea of switching to 4-3-3. To do so though, some added depth is needed in the department so that there are genuine back-ups to Tijjani Reijnders and Youssouf Fofana, who are playing every game.

If the Diavolo wish to use a three-man midfield as a permanent solution, they need at least one more player. Ismael Bennacer does not offer guarantees at the moment, so the directors have two names in mind: Warren Bondo of Monza and Reda Belahyane of Hellas Verona.

The former has been in Moncada’s sights for a long time, having followed him since his time at Nancy, while the second has been more of a surprise package given the incredible start to the season he is having under Paolo Zanetti.

Both players intrigue Milan, because they would not cost a fortune and they are Under 22 players meaning they could be added to the squad lists for Serie A and the Champions League without any issues (like needing to sell first).

The alternative to the aforementioned domestic duo is Johnny Cardoso, a USA international who is currently playing at Real Betis and was linked with a move during the summer.

  1. Should just cash out on Ricci..he can play dm.in 433 and he can play in a pivot.

The guys who need another 3 years to mature are not gonna give us any added value. Might as well play Vos then. He’s also gonna need a couple years..why they purchased him anyway?

I don’t undestand his case either. He came to Milan because he was complaining about lack of time with Ajax’s first team, yet there he is playing in serie C with Futuro.
With Ajax (first team and U21) he was used mostly as a defensive midfielder, yet with us he was used in pretty much every position available (CDM, CM, AM and even LW). So are we trying to create a jack of all trades (master of none) type of player ?

      1. Who knows. The clowns in this club have no idea how to develop a player. And I’m not just talking about the management. The whole coaching staff and the water/towel boy.

The only one who shown any skillz in development was abate and he was pushed out.
        Boner couldn’t develop/raise a cactus

  2. Is obvious that Fonseca does not know what he is doing look at the kind of players we want to sign we forgot to work on our tactical pattern that’s poor please I’m beginning to see you don’t know what your doing please Acmilan should go and hire a tactical coach let’s bring in Edin terzic or Roberto de zerbi is my suggestion
