CM: Milan could opt for a Bosman striker – six options include Liverpool outcast and Arsenal duo

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are hoping to sign a new striker this summer to bolster the frontline and they are evaluating various opportunities, a report claims.

According to, Maldini and Massara’s idea is to give Pioli a real alternative to Giroud, who has done well having scored 11 goals in 27 appearances this season but will turn 36 this year which means he cannot start every game.

The market budget will for the most part be invested in Sven Botman and Renato Sanches, for whom there are advanced negotiations with Lille, but it cannot be excluded that Milan may bet on an opportunity for the attack with six names on the radar.

Andrea Belotti: The Italy international said no to a renewal with Torino, but they continue to hope he will reconsider. Belotti meanwhile has put Milan at the top of his wish list, and he would be useful to the Rossoneri given he is Italian, knows the league well and has a good goal scoring record.

Dries Mertens: Napoli are not currently expected to exercise the option for a one-year renewal of Mertens’ contract expiring in 2022. Except for surprises in July, he will be free to sign with any team and given he has 144 goals for the Neapolitans, he would be useful to Milan too.

Divock Origi: He has become Klopp’s back-up striker at Liverpool with 5 goals in 533 minutes spread over 14 games. He wants to play with more continuity, and he scored at San Siro to knock Milan out of the Champions League.

Alexandre Lacazette: The Frenchman said no to a renewal with Arsenal despite the fact he continues to be a starter. This year he has scored five goals, but Lyon are also keen on reuniting with him.

Eddie Nketiah: It is the same story as Lacazette in that he said no to the renewal offers. At 22 years old, Nketiah can also be an investment for the future, but at the moment he is struggling for playing time and goals.

Cyle Larin: The Canada international is having good season with Besiktas, and the former Orlando City striker dragged Canada to the World Cup with Jonathan David. Like Nketiah, he has a non-EU passport which does not help.

  1. Belotti is ok, simply because he will arrive on free. But no, not Origi! Ignore the occasional moments of brilliance. He has been ice-cold most of his time in Liverpool. 22 goals in 105 matches for team that plays extreme offensive football. No way.

    1. Agreed. And to my knowledge he has never been considered an out and out striker anyway. Don’t know much about Nketiah, but a quick search indicates he also doesn’t have an EU passport, so he would be in the same boat as the Canadian (in addition to lack of track record).

  2. Just get Bellotti and the attacking problems are solved, assuming adli is able to play AMF pretty well.

Maybe get kamara for free and use the money budgeted for Sanches to buy anyone amongst de kaetelare, noa Lang or Berardi as RW

  3. Get 4 strikers
and play two of them as RW and LW (Rebic, saeles, messias out)
    one on AM (diaz out)
one on ST (ibra pellegri out)

There i settled the issue with our team. What we need someone to replace krunic? yeah 5 strikers in why not

  4. Belotti and Mertens on free transfers and have them and Giroud all in competition to play.

    Giroud and Mertens: CL experience

Mertens and Belotti: Serie A veterans
