CorSera: Milan hit with another bout of injury problems before resumption of season

AC Milan have not had much luck this season when it comes to injuries, and they have been hit by another bout of issues before the resumption of the season.

Corriere della Sera (via PianetaMilan) takes stock of the current injury situation at Milan, starting with Mike Maignan who is above the absence that could cost Milan dearly given how often he has made the difference. He will be forced to wait for a while longer as his left calf hasn’t fully healed yet and there are fears that he may also miss the Supercoppa Italiana final against Inter on January 18.

Milan are therefore reflecting on the possibility of bringing forward the signing of Marco Sportiello to January, having agreed terms with him over a free transfer for next summer.

However, the Christmas troubles for Milan do not end there as Divock Origi will be out for a bit longer. The ex-Liverpool striker has suffered a low-grade hamstring problem in his right thigh and will be re-evaluated in a week.

Finally, both Rade Krunic and Junior Messias have muscle fatigue and will be evaluated after Christmas, so things are far from ideal for Pioli heading into the game against Salernitana on January 4.
