AC Milan are ‘very serious’ about their new stadium plans and they seem to have decided on both the capacity and the date it will be opened.
According to Pietro Mazzara’s latest column for MilanNews, RedBird Capital partners are pushing ahead with their plan to build a new state of the art home and want to present the project to the Council of San Donato by the end of the month.
The club are working in very close contact with local institutions and the Lombardy region regarding the land and what it is necessary to do to close the permit process.
Then, they will concentrate on the next step which would be the preparation of the construction site, to start the works in 2025. The aim of the club is to play the 130th anniversary season in the new stadium, which will have 70,000 seats, so therefore an opening in 2029.
Hoping to see new milan❤🖤
If he manage to build it, I don’t mind if Cardinale put his name on the stadium (most likely given to sponsor though). 😆
Maybe the Milano Yankee Stadium? With statues of Jerry all around the stadium!
Very good that we’ll have our own brand new stadium but he’s not doing it for the fans. A lot of opportunities to build commercial and maybe residential area with money from the club.
A lot of the commercials will boost the club revenue. It’s a win-win.
In theory yes, but many clubs that built their own stadium struggle. This is a huge debt in the accounts, especially with the aforementioned commercial areas. See Lyon in Ligue 1, a championship close to Serie A in terms of revenues, they are struggling since they built their big modern stadium with business facilities around. I don’t know the details so I hope it’s just poor management and that Milan will be fine. All these bankers in the front staff should be useful someway.
Stadio Berlusconi
Put the name of Silvio Berlusconi at the main stand.
The stadium should have the name of the sponsor that will pay the highest amount of money per year for the naming rights.
That’s another stream of revenue that will allow Milan to spend more on transfers or pay it’s existing players higher salaries.
Naming the stadium after Berlusconi or any other person from the clubs past brings no extra money.
