Sport: Milan, Spurs and Cardiff among clubs who have enquired about Gareth Bale

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have been named as one of the potential destinations for Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale who seems destined to leave on a free.

According to Sport, Bale’s time with Real Madrid has come to an end and recent history has not exactly been great. He struggled with injuries over the past three years and never really demonstrated a public attachment to the club, meaning he has been jeered repeatedly by fans.

Bale’s contract with Real Madrid ends on June 30, so his departure on a free transfer is virtually certain, but he must lower his economic demands if he wants to continue playing at a good level and his retirement cannot even be ruled out.

His future depends on what happens with Wales as they must overcome the winner of the game between Scotland and Ukraine to reach the 2022 Qatar World Cup, so Bale’s ultimate goal is to stay fit to reach the tournament with Wales in top form.

There are several teams who have enquired such as Cardiff City – his childhood team – Tottenham, Milan, Newcastle, Rangers and some MLS teams. The Cardiff idea is the most tempting at the moment, as the idea of a return ‘home’ before the World Cup and the to hang up his boots seems like a good ending to his story.
