Sky: Milan ‘do not have huge cash reserves’ but will invest in one of four forwards

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan do not have a lot of money to spend this summer but they are willing to invest in a new forward, according to a report.

Speaking on Sky (via MilanNews), Manuele Baiocchini spoke about Milan’s transfer strategies for this summer and he revealed that at the moment the feeling is that Milan ‘want to invest in a winger’, with four names in particular standing out.

Charles De Ketelaere of Club Brugge is one of them, while the other three all play at Sassuolo in Domenico Berardi, Giacomo Raspadori and Hamed Junior Traore. These are the names that interest Milan, who ‘do not have huge cash reserves’ but want a ‘market based on sustainable growth’.

That is why signing a player like the 21-year-old Belgium international De Ketelaere is seen as a high-quality investment with a great chance of guaranteeing a return. He is a player available now, who can grow even more and can make Milan stronger.

Baiocchini adds that a player like De Ketelaere ‘can eventually be sold in the next few years’ and then Milan will ‘get a new De Ketelaere’. This is the concept of the Milan leadership.

  1. De Ketelaere ‘can eventually be sold in the next few years’ and then Milan will ‘get a new De Ketelaere’. This is the concept of the Milan leadership this why i hate american investors in football

    1. Don’t worry, that is just a rubbish unintellectual theory.

Even under Elliot, Milan was not a selling club. Just look at Donnarumma, Calhanoglu, and Kessie.

Redbird’s vision is to make Milan a club with huge global market power, just like Real Madrid and Manchester United. To do this, Milan have to position itself as the big club, not feeder for big club.

    2. Because they know how to run businesses? Sustainability seems to be an alien concept to some people. The very reason clubs have to spend 100m every summer is precisely because certain petro clubs have distorted the market over the last 15 years. Many of the top clubs are hundreds of millions in debt. Even Barcelona had to let go of its all-time icon and is having trouble signing players right now because it can’t keep up. This is destroying football.

  2. Or accept that to run a club in a league that is not the Premier League requires massive recalibration in order to run sustainibly. With Serie A TV deals worth 10x less than Premier league, Milan makes less than Everton, which almost went down. We are the new – old Arsenal. I can complain or embrace it, life’s short so I go for the latter.

    1. 100% agree. People do not appreciate how Serie A finances compare to the Prem, but still make comparisons. With all our history, we still get outbid by teams like Everton, Villa, Leicester etc, and not just out bid, often blown out of the water.

  3. LOLOLO…not Suprising at all. Thoughts of players like Botman Bremer CDK Zaniolo Lang and now Sanches (reports of his deal in doubt) – are pure fantasy. Redbird/Elliot have no intention to spend big $$$. We are NOT spending 45-50M on one player. Fans will be disappointed at the end of this transfer window IMO

  4. Nachhaltiges wachstum ist der Schlüssel, milan kann nur unter die Top 10 – Top5 wenn man die nächsten Jahre 800mio Transfererlös erzielt

  5. Certain man want would rather have Gabriel Jesus than Scamacca…… I’m embarrassed for my Rossoneri sometimes.

  6. Rubbish article. AC Milan not doing that kind business buy Young player then sell them later. AC Milan not sassoulo or Atalanta that growing young player then sell them for profit. But i don’t blame if they sell leao because leao want to become highest paid player in serie A

  7. Unfortunately, Leao will leave similarly to Kessie, Donnarjma, Calha… This is the effect of ‘sustainable growth’. Better sell him now and replace with Lang.

  8. there is just one way to get back on top, sell like hell! So yes Milan is doing that kind of business, because there is no onther way. Sustainable growth the next 4-6 years is important and therfore we need to develop Theos, Leaos and Tonalis and then sell for 100mio each! 5 years later when having the stadium, MUCH better scouting, modern training center and much more money. Well then Milan gets the players they want like back in the days. But today the goal must be, what can i do that a Haaland, Vinicius or Foden is playing 2-3years for me bevor getting paid by sheikh… ..but to be honest i would prefer to have Martinez, Dybala and Lukaku at front 🙂

  9. “player like De Ketelaere ‘can eventually be sold in the next few years’ and then Milan will ‘get a new De Ketelaere’. This is the concept of the Milan leadership.“
now AC Milan become atalanta /ajax??
the second this new owner are buying Milan, i put my expectation low, and now all Milan transfer targets for next season & to renew our key players contract seems to fade away.
perhaps Maldini & Massara to this day have not extended their work contract which ends at the end of this month because of this.
once again, i’m really really happy if i’m wrong in this
