CM: Milan face challenges from Inter and Napoli for €40m defender – the details

By Ben Dixon -

After AC Milan’s heavy interest in the winter mercato, the Rossoneri will re-attempt to sign Alessandro Buongiorno in the summer. However, they will face a lot of competition for the young central defender, especially from within Italy.

This season’s defensive crisis highlighted the need for extra defensive reinforcements. However, when partnered with the fact that Simon Kjaer will most likely leave the club and Pierre Kalulu could depart, it shows why Milan are looking for quality cover.

There has remained one name they have been consistently interested in. Alessandro Buongiorno, the Torino captain, was denied a move in the winter, but not through his own doing.

As Calciomercato.com writes, the Toro will struggle to repeat the last window and keep him at the club, with Milan, Inter and Napoli all very keen on the prospect of signing him in the upcoming window.

In January, the Diavolo came close and offered him a contract, but there was a distance between the club and Urbano Cairo in terms of their valuation of the player. This summer, he will be sold if an offer of €40 million arrives, and considering the amount of interest in the central defender, it is expected that someone, in Italy or not, will be successful in their pursuit of him.

  1. Scalvini and Coppola if you want Italian CBs
Then… Is Parisi Calafiori Pafundi Ricci Cancelleri and maybe Carnasechi too.

    1. If we actually are to buy french maybe we should consider getting Leny Yoro from lille who has a contract expiring in 2025 and is only 18 years old but already holds a valuation of 40 mil according to trasnfermarkt. If the club actually wants david maybe in a double deal then.

      1. Leny Yoro would not accept to play in Italy. The likes of Man City, Real Madrid and PSG want him. It is widely reported in the media that he only wants RM.

        1. Not aware of that or if the reports are correct but still worth an attempt to see if he somehow can be persuaded.

      2. Yoro it could be proved to be a difficult deal because many teams will try to sign him Rumour says about Real so maybe we can if we act fast before any other team.

  2. Be on the lookout for MONEYBALL Moncada to sign some new french “superstars”

Expect more Reijnders and Musah type signings, instead of someone who could actually make a difference for our team

The point of moneyball isn’t to win, it’s to turn a profit. Signing big players will help Milan win, but they will most likely lose money. Hence Moneyball Moncada signs a bunch of cheapo players, pretends they are good and then try to turn a profit on them in a few years.

Our midfield was: Tonali, Bennie, Kessie and Krunic.
It’s now: Reijnders, Adli, Bennie and Musah.

Unlike Inter, who sign quality players. Even when they sell, they sign quality players as a replacement and have almost always beaten Milan to the player recently. It’s not really even a contest. You can mock them, but they went to the CL final beating Milan handedly, and have dominated Serie A.

Pioli and Milan try to pretend they are a champion caliber team and are going to go and win things but the sad reality is, the team isn’t capable of it with the current talent levels. Especially midfield right now.

But hey, we’ll probably sell some of those new midfielders in a few years and make a small profit. That’s the point. So, the executives gets their cut and go buy another new boat. They lose nothing and make $$$ from this. MONEYBALL MONCADA!

Moncada is no more than a stock broker. Buy low, sell high. None of them actually care about Milan winning. They’ll get their cut either way. It’s the fans that lose.

    1. Moneyball Moncada love profit, but less trophy. Great for owner, miserable for fans.

Moneyball Moncada love Pioli. Pioli give second rank in serie A, but miserable againts big team in cup competition.

    2. Please; do understand that the inter Milan you compare us with have blended so well bcuz of compatibility unlike the new milan, if Milan is to insert new signings by the coming season in all areas like the defense, midfield n attack without selling a player in the current starting lineup you would be amazed at how incredible the team would look and play, have it in mind that these players are new crops and next season they would look even better, do you even recall that the season before Milan won the league we were just like this current crops of players.

Better season next year as long as there are alone pluses to the team approximately 3 players namely, Attacker with incredible stats, a prolific midfielder and a very talented defender with good ratings then couple with the current team you would see a good team looking like Inter Milan n strong like Atlanta or Atletico that would be a problem for serie A n the champions league at large.
