CM: Milan face challenges from Inter and Napoli for €40m defender – the details

After AC Milan’s heavy interest in the winter mercato, the Rossoneri will re-attempt to sign Alessandro Buongiorno in the summer. However, they will face a lot of competition for the young central defender, especially from within Italy.

This season’s defensive crisis highlighted the need for extra defensive reinforcements. However, when partnered with the fact that Simon Kjaer will most likely leave the club and Pierre Kalulu could depart, it shows why Milan are looking for quality cover.

There has remained one name they have been consistently interested in. Alessandro Buongiorno, the Torino captain, was denied a move in the winter, but not through his own doing.

As Calciomercato.com writes, the Toro will struggle to repeat the last window and keep him at the club, with Milan, Inter and Napoli all very keen on the prospect of signing him in the upcoming window.

In January, the Diavolo came close and offered him a contract, but there was a distance between the club and Urbano Cairo in terms of their valuation of the player. This summer, he will be sold if an offer of €40 million arrives, and considering the amount of interest in the central defender, it is expected that someone, in Italy or not, will be successful in their pursuit of him.
