Journalist claims Milan are interested in World Cup winning Brighton star

AC Milan are one of the clubs keeping tabs on Alexis Mac Allister’s development at Brighton and Hove Albion, according to a report.

According to what Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports has reported in his ‘takeover’ of Fabrizio Romano’s column for CaughtOffside, Milan are among the teams who are interested in Mac Allister in view of the summer.

The Premier League side smartly tied him down to a new deal until 2025 before the World Cup, where he was exceptional with Argentina and really rose to prominence. There is an option in favour of the club to extend it by a year too, to protect his value.

The 24-year-old is attracting interes from Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal who ‘have all looked at Mac Allister to differing degrees’ but there is ‘nothing advanced’, while Real Madrid and Milan are also ‘keeping tabs’.

Brighton want to keep the midfielder for as long as possible and the future of Moises Caicedo could play a part too, given they will not want to lose both in the same summer.

Brighton will want £60m (€68m) for Mac Allister now, especially after he was named the best young player at the Qatar World Cup, and the number of interested clubs helps their negotiating power.
