AC Milan were beaten 3-0 by Chelsea in their penultimate summer friendly, but Sky’s Peppe Di Stefano has tried to provide some context.
On the face of things, there are some worries about how Milan’s preseason is going from a results perspective. They drew 2-2 with Celtic having been two goals down, and needed a late penalty to get a draw against Inter.

On Saturday they were comfortably beaten by Xabi Alonso’s Chelsea, who could have had more than the three goals they scored. The Rossoneri did not manage a single shot on target which is a cause for concern, and now some movement on the market is expected.
‘We need to separate some things’
Peppe Di Stefano saw the game in person in Jakarta and he spoke on Sky after the full-time whistle to give his assessments. MilanNews relayed his words.
“In my opinion, we need to separate some things from today’s game. Numerous experiments were carried out. Aside from Luka Modric, all the players who needed to be tested were put on the pitch. Many young players, many of them, between the first and second halves.
“And for Milan, beyond being inferior to Chelsea in absolute terms, today’s game needs to be weighed intelligently. It’s clear that it gives us pause for thought, it’s clear that there are things that need to be reviewed, it’s clear that the team’s level needs to be raised.
“Amorim was clear when he said that decisions will be made next week. As if to say, today was a test, and some passed it and some didn’t. They’ll send players out on loan, some will be sold, and as a result, others will stay.
“I’ve seen Amorim in these first 15 days: he’s working well, he works with the team. Today, there are too many players: 33 players in the squad, and Maignan and Rabiot still have to arrive.
“When such a young coach arrives after such a unique season – because Milan’s season was very good, but it ended terribly – you have to hand the team over to him as soon as possible and unite the team. The surplus players must be sold, only in this way will you allow the coach to work at his best.”

By the end of next week, we will know how the coach intends to kick off the season and how committed the club is backing him.
We need to sign a DC, LWB, MC, AMRC and a backup SC. I don’t care anymore how they plan to do that, the only thing that matters is they need to obtain that goal and get all of those players somehow eventually. The likes of Bartesaghi, Comotto, Cisse and Camarda will shine occasionally but I truly hope that it is more than obvious to everyone that one or two decent performances in five matches are far from sufficient, nothing should be left to chance and luck.
They never gonna be able to sign 5 players. As I have stated before: two more new players is the best we can hope for (a cb and an amf, like Inacio and Soule).
6 foreign players need to be sold or loaned out, 7 if they want to sign another foreign player. That task alone will be huge before september 1st. Especially if you concider the fact that our directors hardly have any connections like Tare did.
A LWB and a right AMC are mandatory and so is that skilled middle CB.
One thing these games are proving is that the future of Italian football is not looking great. The young Italian’s are looking quite out of their depth.
Like Palestra? 😀
OUT: RLC, Tomori, Bondo, Estupinan, Terracianno, Musah, Leao, Fofana
IN: CB: Lucumi/Inacio;
RWB: Dedic/Cambiaso/Doue/Spence;
CAMs: Brahim Diaz/Endrick/Asllani (only on permanent, no buy-back BS), Soule/Kulusevski/Doan/Vergara
Spence + Kulusevski for Leao would be a dream deal at this point… Brahim and Lucumi would cost 55-60M, which can be financed by RLC, Musah, Tomori, Fofana easy…

Also AUGUST: Season starts.
Why are they making excuses for this fraud? He needed to hit the ground running and show that he learned from what happened at Man United. The evidence so far suggests he hasn’t. He’s got until November.
Honestly just sell the premadonnas, let the kids work it out. Add the money to the pot for next summer. I would rather support kids making an honest effort where mistakes are expected and growth is visible than just trying to patch up up with bottom barrel buys. That’s something I can get behind. Last 3 years have been so frustrating
