CaughtOffside: Milan could offer winger Italy return as Liverpool open to €25-30m sale

Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa is attracting interest ahead of the summer transfer window, and AC Milan are among the teams keen.

According to what sources have told our colleagues at CaughtOffside, Chiesa is ’emerging as a target for AC Milan’ along with three Premier League clubs that at the moment remain unnamed. He was also a target for Napoli during the winter window, but rejected them.

A possible move back to Serie A ‘could be an option’ for Chiesa given that the 27-year-old is struggling for minutes under Arne Slot following his move to Anfield from Juventus. The winger was ‘keen to give his time at Liverpool more of a chance’, but now is aware things are ‘just not working out’.

Going back to Italy would ‘make the most sense for Chiesa’ as per the report, but staying in the Premier League could be an option too given the interest from English sides. CaughtOffside add that Liverpool ‘would likely ask for a fee in the region of €25-30m’ to sell.

Having found himself behind Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota, there ‘certainly seems little need to keep hold of Chiesa’. Nonetheless, he is likely to pick up a Premier League winners medal at the end of the current campaign.

It would be a move that stacks up with Milan’s reported mission to bring more Italian influence into the squad, including players who know the league well.

  1. 25-30m?
    😂
They bought him for about 10 million, and after playing about 10 minutes all season long, they wanna sell him for 25 – 30m?
    😂

    1. Seriously, you are spot on.

How is the original article journalism at all?

Why would SM repeat such obvious trash?

If anything we take him for free to get his salary off their books and they like it.

The idea of Chiesa coming is a good one. A quality back up for Leao that keeps Puli on the right makes us stronger.

If by a miracle Chiesa can recover his form /fitness fully then Leao has real competition and that is good for everyone.

But if we paid anything for him we’d be suckers.

Why can’t this happen? Simple – as with all things we will either until the opportunity is past us.

Cannot wait for an SD to arrive.

      1. Is it a bit hypocritical to pillory a club for trying to make money on a sale, while then criticizing our club when we don’t try to sell our players 1,000,000,000 euros? All clubs want to sell for the most possible, and pay the least possible for purchases.

    1. Agreed, he’d be a useful rotation winger and probably a lot more productive than Chukwueze, and hes definitely a cut above Sottil.

Given his injury record however, no reason to pay that fee for him, either a loan or transfer fee closer to €15mn

  2. I would have loved to have gotten him for free at the beginning of the season as he was worth the chance but come on now Liverpool is demanding 25-30 million euros 😀 It’s not April fools day any longer and if that is their demands I’m fairly confident to say that we wont entertain such demands.

  3. Why get a useless Chiesa when you could get Orsolini instead? Just look at the goal contributions of the latter this season. End of discussion.
