AC Milan failed in a late attempt to sign Goncalo Inacio from Sporting CP but they are expected to try again.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below), it’s clear that Milan – led by a new Gerry Cardinale in direct command of operations – have completely changed their negotiating approach compared to recent seasons.

This was demonstrated by the signings of Goncalo Ramos, Mario Gila, and Diego Moreira, three players the club considers ready to make a difference immediately. They cost a lot, but there is no longer room for cheap players.

This is Cardinale’s vision and it will continue to be pursued in the future, starting with the defender who hasn’t arrived but for whom they will try again in January.

Inacio pursuit

The paper reveal that Milan were very close to signing Gonçalo Inacio in the final 48 hours of the transfer window. Since Ruben Amorim’s first days at the club, the Sporting centre-back has been considered one of the main targets for the defence.

The coach knows him well and wanted to reunite with him, so much so that a €40m offer was made in the last few hours, which Sporting accepted. However, the Portuguese club made it clear they had to find a suitable replacement first.

This last condition was not met, and so the deal fell through. Or rather, it was shelved – because despite Fikayo Tomori’s reinstatement – Cardinale’s plan is to go back in for Inacio when the window reopens.

      1. Could be, yes, but this back-and-forth by reproducing articles in this website does not help us i.e. the funbase..! I do understand that the people behind sempremilan may not be professional journalists, but alternative approaches to informing us could perhaps be evaluated, without this meaning that I personally do not appreciate their effort..!

        1. This site is an aggregator site. Take it or leave it. Just have fun read all the news while keep in mind less than 50% are true story.

If you don’t appreciate this site, or the work put in by the people here, you’re welcomed to look at those italian/foreign site one by one.

          1. “… without this meaning that I personally do not appreciate their effort..!”

Thank you for the advice anyway..! Much appreciated..! 🙂

  1. That’s why you don’t wait until the last day to do it. If the coach knew he wanted Ignacio all along and the new model is to spend then it should’ve been done in early .

    1. Much earlier actually. And we are not talking only about the middle CB, we lack two more men and two more quality players at the very least…

    2. Ignacio is already here if it was estu to Villa not failed, tomori, fofana & bondo sold even at cut price it should be more than enough to get Ignacio

    1. Scalvini can’t stay fit and where do you think we’re getting €85 million from? We are in debt. This is going to be a serious problem next summer.

  2. Maybe their priorities should have been reassessed. moreira, while an exciting prospect seems to be competeing for the same spot as Chuk, while the Left flank has crickets and the defense is missing another CB upgrade?

Can’t build a squad in one window but maybe the signings should have had an importance assigned to them. I don’t know .

    1. moreira has to be difference maker or it will be pointless waste of 50+ mil. we had other priorities. if they spend that 50+ on centerback, we would have arguably best defence in the league.

  3. Milan management MUST be extremely stupid.
Even the most stupid clown knows that transfer deals (if really wanted) should NOT be left to the very last day or two!!!!!!

  4. if I know redbird and Gerry this is just fake news to suck up to the fans so we would continue to spent money on merchandise and tickets. FY Gerry!
