Reports: Milan could hire coach from abroad for Futuro after Oddo’s exit – the details

Massimo Oddo will no longer be the head coach of Milan Futuro, so a casting process is underway to replace him.

Milan announced the departure of Oddo yesterday, who has left the club in order to pursue other opportunities in his coaching career. The Rossoneri issued an official statement announcing the news.

“AC Milan announces that, effective July 1, 2026, Massimo Oddo’s professional relationship at the helm of Milan Futuro will end. The decision, made by the coach who has chosen to pursue new professional projects, has been accepted by the Club.

“AC Milan wishes to thank Massimo Oddo for the professionalism, commitment, and dedication he has demonstrated during his time at the club, wishing him all the best in his personal and professional career.”

What next?

Oddo could start over at the helm of a Serie B or Serie C club next season. He’d prefer to start with a project from the start of the season, as he admitted in a recent interview with Tuttosport. At the moment, however, this possibility seems to be ruled out, barring any unexpected events.

During his time as Milan Futuro’s coach – from February 2025 to June 2026 – Oddo averaged 1.54 points per game in 50 matches. The Futuro managed to get into the play-off places, though they were ultimately beaten by Chievo Verona.

According to MilanVibes, three candidates – both Italian and foreign – are currently in the running to replace Oddo next season. A decision on this matter is expected from Milan in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com is claiming that the new Futuro boss is expected to be a hire from abroad. It could be the case that the club opt for synergy between the first and second teams after Ruben Amorim’s arrival, in terms of system and style of play.
