AC Milan cannot waste any time in their planning for the future, and that is why attention has already turned to the choice of head coach.
As Corriere della Sera point out, there was a strong air of discontent within the walls of San Siro last night as some fans – in the Curva Sud above all – staged a walk-out after 15 minutes of the win over Monza. That came after thousands gathered at Casa Milan to protest against the leadership.

With the win against Monza, the Rossoneri are now in seventh place, a position with which they would avoid playing the Coppa Italia in August, but they will have to wait for the result of Fiorentina who will face Udinese away tonight.
New coach
Now the time has come to think about the future immediately because Milan can no longer waste time. The new sporting director will finally be announced next week, namely Igli Tare who has signed for three seasons and will earn €800k net per season.
The former Lazio man will immediately have to make a fundamentally important decision: who will be the new coach in place of Sergio Conceiçao? The first choice is Vincenzo Italiano, who however seems intent on renewing with Bologna.
Another name that should be removed from the list is that of Roberto De Zerbi, who will remain at Marseille. Those are not just rumours either: the Ligue 1 club released an official statement confirming it.
The management have already understood that another gamble is not an option, so Antonio Conte and Massimiliano Allegri are high on the list. The former has just won the Scudetto and in the next few days he will meet De Laurentiis to talk about the future. However, Juventus are also on his trail.
Allegri instead remains free and has already given his availability to return to Milanello, but keep an eye on Napoli who are thinking of him in case of Conte’s farewell. Among the coaches without a team there is also Thiago Motta.

Now. Whose responsible of choosing the coach? the person responsible for choosing the coach (or “head coach” in some contexts) is typically the manager or director of football
Finally. Whose responsible on spending on coach? Furlani= Elliot . So Elliot are the real culprits. Clear? But here’s the trick. Nobody, especially from italian side interested in investing on AC Milan nowadays
Allegri is a good coach. He is very good in rotating star player. However, he did one mistake in Milan. He didn’t include Inzaghi in Champions League squad.

Allegri’s last spell at Juve was not good. I must say the squad he had at his disposal was lacking in quality in too many areas so it’s hard to tell how he could do with more quality. On paper this Milan team is not terrible. 2-3 world class players is all we need in this window. Whoever comes in as coach will struggle unless we elevate the quality of each dept of the team. Over to you Mr. Tare.
Choose whoever is fit to incorporate our talents into first team. Camarda, Liberali, Bartesaghi, Zeroli, Torriani. Now even more since we’re out of Europe.
Any coach is a gamble. Conte would be a gamble. Problem is that the other teams are understanding the odds whilst reading the other players’ facial cues and we’ve got a bunch of clowns trying to play blackjack with the community chest cards from monopoly. Hey look, we finished second in a beauty contest.
Are we that desperate to go back to Allegri, then half a year into his tenure we would be shouting #AllegriOut. We moved on from Allegri for a reason: his boring, uncourageous football is not the one we want to play as AC Milan.
To me, there are a few main problems we need a coach to address.
The main one is defensive structure and style. In purely xG terms, our attacking chance creation is one of the best in the league, I think third or fourth. But what’s killing us is vulnerability in defense. Problem is, there’s a lot of things behind that. Our left side can’t effectively press (including Reijnders in that, he’s not got great defensive awareness), we don’t have a rock of a defensive midfielder (Fofana has had some excellent games in interceptions but plays well ahead of the defense) and Tomori, Pavlovic and Gabbia are not the best defenders at escaping a press. These are things Allegri has always done well.
Starting games on the front foot. We have been terrible in the first twenty minutes of games, when a lot of modern football is changing to a high energy start with periods of more relaxed play, we seem to be unable of being in anything other than third gear. Opponent after opponent has surprised us by immediately being on the fullbacks and centre midfielders and not letting us ease into games… can Allegro solve this? His team’s have a better record at it than our recent one. He’s organised and structured and about nullifying opponents, but can he work in the new tactical world? Probably, but jury is out.
Perhaps the least important, having a distinct style. And I don’t mean flair, I mean having repeatable patterns of play we see working. Having Plan A and Plan B and knowing when to switch them around and when to try something different. I’m not sure how Allegri will be at imposing this.
He’s also got a very good record giving young players a chance, which is something we haven’t done for years.
He’s not an exciting prospect, but Conte won’t be available to us and right now do we need to get a solid base again and work out how to build on it? Do we need more of a plan than “hope Leao or Reijnders do something”? Do we need to develop some of our young players, who might be more mouldable than our more established names? There’s definitely an argument for it.
And my long comment about De Zerbi didn’t appear… After all this time you think the comments problem would be fixed.
Remember we used to call Allegri Allergic because he was allergic to winning. Is this what we really want? We dumped him the first time for a reason. Let’s not repeat our mistakes.
