Amid news that AC Milan are not making much progress in negotiations over Santiago Gimenez, an alternative has emerged in Lorenzo Lucca.
Sky are reporting that Milan have ‘concrete interest’ in Lucca, even if it has not yet resulted in a negotiation or an offer of any kind. However, the Italian is one of the options that the Rossoneri directors could go for in the final days of the January window.

They would perhaps launch an offer similar to the one sent to Feyenoord for Gimenez, therefore around €27-28m including bonuses. Milan still hope deep down that they will have the Mexican for the derby, but the bids they have put forward so far are ‘nowhere close’ to being enough.
The Dutch club are continuing to put up a wall and in the Netherlands there is talk of an offer of €27-28m, but of which only €20m are fixed and €7m are bonuses, a figure that is unlikely to shake Feyenoord who do not want to sell their main striker in the winter window anyway.
Thus, Lucca could become an option. He has scored 10 goals this season, with eight coming in the league and two in the Coppa Italia, in 24 appearances overall. Valued at €18m by Transfermarkt, he was bought last year for €8m after spending the prior season on loan from Pisa.

From what I have seen he’d need a better service than what the team can provide at the moment. I don’t think he’d bench either one of our strikers. The only thing he’d do us give the coach an option to play 4-4-2 should he want to go down that road.

Because Vlahovic at 12mil/season can not play with his back to goal or in any sort of link-up play. And his first touch is worse than my grandma’s.
He can be good striker , this season is better then previous and he has still potential, from 20 matches he has 8 goals and 5l4 asistem24 years old , definitely better then Tammy and best possible striker in Italy in January. Still hope for Gimenez but he can also help ( my opinion)
I’d rather see us get Lucca and a midfielder like Frendrup, Ricci or Prati this winter rather than Giménez and no midfielder. We need a striker but the midfield is more urgent.
As good as Giménez CAN be, Feyenoord has no need to sell him and doesn’t have a reason to settle for less than 40M€, so If we’re not gonna spend 40M€ I’d prefer we go for other targets.
Not a bad compromise, although with a total budget of 40M for two players in your case, Ricci will also be out of reach since he’s already about 40M himself. Frendrup + Lucca sounds doable though.
Both have good potential but neither will boost the quality of our starting xi nor are they sucdetto winning CF ie laturo, thuram, lukaku etc. We need to sign proven CF. Stop messing about. Issue is its smokes and mirrors as no top club will sell their best players in Jan.

And who do you want to buy in winter mercato…is hard to find a super striker in the middle of the seasons, Chelsea don’t want to loan Felix , Juve don’t sell Vlahovic, Feyenoord don’t want to sell Gimenez and now we can’t sign even Rashford…then who? Lucca is definitely not great but for now best possible player with 8 goals in 20 matches. If he will be capable score another 6/7 goals, he can be good signing to next season for few bugs.
Take Lucca! He would come cheaper and is serie A proven, unlike Gimenez. We need more more quality Italians because of the squas rules.

i still dont believe gimenez would be good. I have seen him play with the mexican team and the guy can’t take the pressure.
I think the real problem is that the through passes are not getting to the strikers. I love the Gimenez idea, but, even if we get him, and he doesn’t get the services, we will still not achieve much. Morata is not poor. The only problem is that he doesn’t get the passes. He plays too deep; always coming back to support the midfield and defense. At his age, he doesn’t need to be doing that in every game. Our wingers, including Leao, are terrible with crosses. Something has to change, or, even Gimenez, will be frustrated, if indeed he comes.
