Alexis Saelemaekers has been a standout for AC Milan this season, but the cover behind him does not inspire, or at least it hasn’t yet. So a move may be made.
Since he has returned from Roma, Saelemaekers has been exemplary. The Belgian looks like a player transformed, and few wing-backs are performing as well as him in Italy this season.

Milan have been lucky to have him available for most games this season, but when he was absent, an issue from the summer was raised again: the lack of depth behind him.
Of course, the Rossoneri got by with Zachary Athekame, but considerations are being made regarding a move.
Experience on the right
As has been reported in recent weeks, Adam Marusic is a name of interest, particularly to Igli Tare, who worked with the defender at Lazio. However, it seemed that he may have regarded a permanent move in the January mercato.

This morning, Tuttosport (via MilanNews) suggests that a pre-contract may only be arranged in the next month, with his deal expiring in the summer. He is seen as a ‘perfect Saelemaekers replacement’, if needed, especially as he can play on both flanks.
At 33-years-old, he would not seek a massively high wage, so it could certainly be a strong move to make.

why are we replacing him?
Reinforcement. The title was not accurate of the content. We didn’t have any depth behind Saelemaekers.
So indirectly admitting Athekame was a pointless signing, and we couldve just kept one of Terra, Davide, or Kalulu… nice work guys
Or he is just a very young player adjusting to a new team and league, just like Kalulu and Terracciano were when they were his age. Terracciano did absolutely nothing at Milan for a year and a half. Now thats a pointless signing.
Also, Kalulu and Terracciano are center backs, while Calabria is a fullback. Milan is looking for someone to backup up Saelemaekers at the wingback position.
Terracciano only started playing CB in a back 3 when he reached Cremonese. At Milan he was only tried at full back and occasionally as a defensive mid. Which if I recall he commented was his preferred position.
I think his time at Verona was mostly as a full back. But not sure on that.
Kalulu played as much as a CB as an RB for Milan. Pioli often said he was best suited to RCB in a back 3 but we rarely played that at the time.
It does seem that both Kalulu and Terracciano would be good covet in the current formation
Not really. We all know eventually Allegri will want to play with 4 at the back…
The current system is out of necessity only.
I saw Cancelo wants to leave Al Hilal, he can play both wings and is younger than Maurusic. Why not go for him? next year if Milan is in Champions league you need good subs and I believe he is a better option than both Athemake and Estupiñán
Too exciting, too attacking
Athekame hasn’t really had much of a chance but when given a chance he’s been ok. This club just always goes for the older has been rather than trusting youth and unfortunately a lot of the fans do too.
No, they don’t. We have a very young squad, most of the signings are young, not old.
We used to couple of years ago atleast. When we won the league the average age of the squad was 24 and we had one of the youngest xi’s in Europe, under Allegri the average starting xi is 29 and we are considering taking steps to increase it further.
Let Athekame play! The kid has gotten very few minutes but has not been bad at all when he has played. Don’t buy young players if you are not going to give them a chance to develop.
Hes a LB btw
Tare the “Genius” brought us Odogu, Athekame, Nkunku, De Winter, Estupidian .
Conference League level😁😁😁
is 33yo the best “reinforcement” we can muster?
How about Tiago Santos ?
SAVRŠENA ZAMJENA _’????? za koga ????????????
