CorSport: Milan one of four candidates for Conte – why it remains an unlikely hypothesis

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have been once again mentioned as a possible destination for Antonio Conte if/when he leaves Spurs, but it seems a difficult fit at the moment.

As reported this morning by Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan), Conte is not expected to be Spurs head coach for much longer and the idea of a return to Serie A is gathering momentum, with Juventus, Inter, Milan and Roma listed as candidates to hire him.

However, Conte could leave Tottenham as early as this week while Stefano Pioli’s future would only be evaluated in the event of failure to qualify for the next Champions League, with the Rossoneri currently in fourth place.

What must also be taken into account is the fact that the diktat from the ownership both under Eliott Management and RedBird Capital has not been one centred around making big investments on players and/or coaches.

The departure of certain players with requests that are too high and the ongoing talks over the renewal of Rafael Leao show that the spending of every penny is analysed, while Conte earns around €15m net per season with the London club currently.

  1. I’m sorry but I don’t want to pay for his ridiculous transfer requests, salary, and Pioli’s severance, only to suffer his temper tantrums and boring football tactics. Next.

  2. Who wants this guy who constantly complains about not having enough transfers? Guy has complained at every team he goes to about lack of spending and milan want him who don’t spend anything? He would only be satisfies at psg. Plus he’s a boring coach who plays only one system, if you can’t adapt your put aside. A big no thank you

  3. Not gonna happen. His salary is just unreachable high for this current Milan team. And he always make several expensive transfer requests. Never seen Pioli asked for any particular player. That’s why management adore him so much.

  4. No thanks. I don’t get anyone who keeps mentioning his name to replace Pioli when the guy got defeated by Pioli who have weaker team than him.

  5. “while Conte earns around €15m net per season with the London club currently.”

Nope. That’s the salary BEFORE the taxes. So it’s not the NET SALARY. In Italy they use net salaries but in EPL the ALWAYS mention the salaries before the taxes.

When in doubt, Google is your friend. 😉
