CorSport: Milan one of four candidates for Conte – why it remains an unlikely hypothesis

AC Milan have been once again mentioned as a possible destination for Antonio Conte if/when he leaves Spurs, but it seems a difficult fit at the moment.

As reported this morning by Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan), Conte is not expected to be Spurs head coach for much longer and the idea of a return to Serie A is gathering momentum, with Juventus, Inter, Milan and Roma listed as candidates to hire him.

However, Conte could leave Tottenham as early as this week while Stefano Pioli’s future would only be evaluated in the event of failure to qualify for the next Champions League, with the Rossoneri currently in fourth place.

What must also be taken into account is the fact that the diktat from the ownership both under Eliott Management and RedBird Capital has not been one centred around making big investments on players and/or coaches.

The departure of certain players with requests that are too high and the ongoing talks over the renewal of Rafael Leao show that the spending of every penny is analysed, while Conte earns around €15m net per season with the London club currently.
