AC Milan have not given up on the idea of signing Leon Goretzka, and are keeping contacts alive to see if they can pull off the coup.
Goretzka’s fate was sealed last month when Christoph Freund – a director at Bayern Munich – did a press conference held together with coach Vincent Kompany, in which he confirmed that Goretzka will bid farewell to the German club.
Milan remain in the race
According to Corriere dello Sport (via MilanPress), Milan still ‘greatly appreciate’ Goretzka, who will leave the Bavarian club on a free transfer, making him a very tempting opportunity in the eyes of several clubs around Europe.
The Rossoneri already had talks with the German’s entourage during the January transfer window to understand the feasibility of the operation, and they understood that to beat the competition it is necessary to move early.

Milan’s main rivals are Atletico Madrid, who are the team pushing perhaps the most aggressively to land the 31-year-old. However, Igli Tare and co. feel that they have made their move in advance, and will try get the former Schalke 04 star locked in for the summer.
Goretzka has had some injury issues in recent season, but not in 2025-26. He has made 29 appearances and scored one goal across all competitions, thanks to the fact he has not had any major physical problems. As we know, Milan are thorough in their medicals, so this is a plus.

I think there are better options out there… we have Ricci, Fofana and Bondo there; depending where Jashari will end up we either need vice-Rabiot or vice-Modric… Goretzka is neither
I don’t believe teams should have “vice” players. A winning team needs players with different capabilities. That’s what makes a good team elite.
Goretzka would bring so much to this midfield. I expect Fofana will leave because if he is as sensitive as they say he is lol. He will not last long.
LOL yea, I mean Fofana and RLC are question marks, if we are talking about next year with cup, UCL and Serie A. Next year, Luka is 41, then we have Rabiot, Ricci, Jashari who can be good. Are they enough to compete in all fronts? Next season everyone will play.
Who puts Ricci, Fofana and BONDO above a player that has made 198 appearances for Bayern Munich and has been capped 67 times by Germany? And with Modric turning FORTYONE (41) next season, another highly experienced and successful midfielder is not a huge limitation on anyone else.
And Goretzka is 31. So he has at least 3-4 seasons left in his legs. I can’t believe some of the jokers on here. Bondo… seriously lmao
Goretzka is a top tier player…
To be sure, I see Goretzka becoming the starter in front of the defense, with Modric coming in for him as a sub or spot starting. Plenty of opportunities on the right side of the midfield for Fofana/Ricci/Jashari to compete for the starting job, nevermind the additional games we’ll be playing with European matches on tap and with Modric, Rabiot and Goretzka all being 30+. I’m not worried about his arrival at all. RLC out, Goretzka in. Great deal.
RLC should stay; he offers something the rest of the midfield needs, and that is options for being versatile. Bondo is not good enough. So shift him on. Fofana offers something to this midfield as well. Jashari, Ricci, Rabiot, Modric, Fofana, RLC, and Goretzka are a great midfield with experience, depth, muscle, and technique.
Get Gila, Lucumi, a left back, shift Esptupina, a striker once you move out one of Santi or Nkunku; whoever is not showing signs of gelling up front. Then if you have the funds, invest in a number 10.
Anyone who ranks Ricci or Bondo as the same as Goretzka, who is a top tier player, is a clown or acting like a clown.
Goretzka would bring huge quality to our midfield, especially with Modric getting another year older. Goretzka plays at the highest level, is pretty fit and is pure quality.
As I said several times, there are still members here who’ll be against the move for the players like Leon, Dusan, and alike. Those are the type of players we exactly need if we really want to bring this team to the next level.
Please and please learn from your doubt againtst Luka and Adrien (which were MANY).
