GdS: Milan have ‘cooled’ negotiations over Theo Hernandez’s renewal – the situation

AC Milan have paused talks over the renewal of Theo Hernandez as they are concerned about his recent form, according to a report.

Today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport has a report which analyses the potential impact of Sunday’s events on the futures of Davide Calabria and Theo, with the former having a bust-up with Sergio Conceicao and the latter taken off at half-time due to a poor performance.

The paper writes that Conceicao’s future beyond this season is far from certain, given that a lot will depend on getting into the Champions League places, but for now the management and the leadership are backing his hardline approach.

Theo will start tomorrow against Dinamo Zagreb. However, he was guilty on Sunday – as has happened too often lately – during Parma’s first goal. It was not the only blunder: he created danger at the back but not up front, as his role as a full-back would require him to do.

If Rafael Leao is the future of the Rossoneri, the same cannot be said for Theo. His contract expires in the summer of 2026 and to sign the renewal he is asking for a pay rise which is not in line with current performances.

That is the reason why the club have cooled the negotiations with his agents, for now. To heat it up again, Theo knows that he must return to the levels that he is capable of.

  1. If Juve fail to qualify for UCL and there is a chance, Vlahovic (contract until 2026) and Cambiasso would be great options.

Udogie from Tottenham would be my favorite choice to replace Theo, followed by Kerkez, Dorgu, Kadioglu, Esputian…

Love Theo but if he continues like that until the summer, it will be hard to justify high salary for him…

        1. Try without the penalties now.
There is a reason why Motta wants him gone and Juventus have been trying to get rid of him for 2 years now and no takers

    1. For striker, I’d like Haaland! LOL. Whatever you’re smoking, I’d like some. Cambiasso is being linked with City. Udogie? Why would he leave PL money to come to us? He’s also worth 45M, good luck with that. Kerkez? Do you think he’ll want to come back given the way he feels about how we treated him? He’s also destined for one of the PL top 6. Dorgu is also being linked with the PL and Lecce has rejected a 20M + 5M offer for him. Looks like he’ll be going for 40M, and probably this window. But dare to dream I guess…

      1. If we are selling Theo, there should be a similar level replacement and Udogie is currently in a team soon to be fighting for relegation…

Cambiasso is linked but this mercato ends in 6 days… and the latter might still want to stay in Italy and I said if Juve were to not go to UCL next season. they overspent and they will have to sell without UCL cash… nothing crazy there, lmao

        everything is conditional

    2. Half of PL club want kerkez , the price must be more than 40m euro. Dorgu already deal to MU 35m euro ( source fabrizio romano). Udogie ? Need 45m euro to take him. Cambiasso ? City offer to juve 50m euro but rejected so how much ACM want offer juve ? . Dusan have highest salary 12m euro nett/season in serie A, salary cap for new player in ACM only 4-6m euro nett / season, do you really think Dusan want reduce half his salary to join ACM ?

      1. He has not many takers… Juve want him gone… Origi also earns 4M doesn’t mean he’s gonna get it after he leaves us…

  2. Sell while you can still get something for him. The occasional big runs from the back do not in any way make up for his terrible defending and even worse attitude.
Theo is the biggest reason for this team’s poor performance this season. And there is not even a close second.

    1. Nice try kiddo. Both him and emerson have been god awful. Theo at the very bottom least has gotten a couple goals and assists to soften the failure a little. Emerson has no goals or assists and was just as useless at the back if not worse. Theo has been the 2nd worst, but Emerson was the worst player we’ve seen wear the jersey since Origi

      1. It’s as if you don’t watch the games at all. More likely you don’t understand what you are watching. Theo is responsible for more goals conceded than the rest of our defenders combined. A couple of goals by him doesn’t even make a dent as far as making up for that.
Add on top of that him undermining the coach the entire season. As captain disobeying the coaches orders, stealing penalties away from our designated pk taker and missing the kick an example that was quickly followed by Tomori and Abraham. Yeah, Theo’s done way more damage to this team than Emerson ever could. 2nd worse would be Calabria, but thank god we won’t have to see much of him anymore.

  3. That is nothing new, theo is preparing his laving for free, just like Challa,Dollaruma,Kessie….did.Since Maldini is gone he doesnt feel conection to ACM any more.Plus…he is going to cash nice amount of money for free transfer in 18 months.Any questions?

    1. Maybe they can sell him, at least 10-15 mill. Even, he is on low salary and left back. In summer Milan could get bigger price for him.

  4. Anyone who actually thought Theo would be given a new contract was living on dreams.
It was clear, that he was already on his way out. Either by management machinations, or his own workings.

  5. I’m more interested in what’s happening with Mike’s renewal? We’ve been reading a lot few months ago how everything is settled and only pen to paper is needed and such bs but lately everything is quiet on that front. So what’s up RedBird?

      1. This makes sense… his renewal salary increase may depend on the qualification so its its better to wIt and see where things stand in 4-6weeks

  6. Even if you’re trying to sell him, you have to renew his contract so you can command a higher fee.

No word on Mike’s and Tijjani’s renewals either so far…

  7. One of Milan’s longest serving players during one of the club’s most successful periods? Check.

    Fans hate the player? Check.

What is the point of this club?

  8. There is a real risk of Milan not qualifying for UCL next season and selling Theo, Leao, Maignan, and Tijjani. The mgmt will want to recoup the lost revenues and will sell high and buy low to still be in the money.

  9. So one of the many downsides to freezing out Calabria was that it also managed to undermine Theo – the auld two birds with one stone trick.

Calabria provided a balance for Theo.

As evidenced by the Scudetto win, 3 x top 2 finishes in 4 years, and champions league semi-final (stop living in the past when we finished 2nd a few months ago, live in the present where we’re 7th).

But remarkably in a team of human beings, chemistry and stuff actually is a big part of it all.

And remarkably footballers being things that exist in the universe have pros and cons.

That’s why when building a ‘team’ one needs to find the right balance of personalities annd characteristics.

And if just happened that Milan HAD found the right balance of personalities annd characteristics.

As evidenced by…..the past (how else do people evidence stuff?.

Calabria provided more of a defensive emphases and Theo more of an attacking.

They were perfectly balanced, and so was the team.

    As evidenced by….oh F off.

But it all had to be undone.

    Because, because, becuase.

They’ve dismantled the ENTIRE Scudetto winning, 31 goal conceding defence in less than 3 seasons.

With the violent agreement of idiots on here.
