CorSport: Vicario and Cragno on list as Milan eye potential cover for Maignan

AC Milan are waiting nervously for news on Mike Maignan’s injury and in the meantime they are lining up three goalkeepers who could come in to provide cover, a report claims.

According to this morning’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews), there is the fear among the Milan staff that Maignan could actually miss the Supercoppa Italiana final against Inter next month depending on what the scans on his calf show.

While waiting to understand how long the Frenchman will be out, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara could well be active in the January transfer market to find a goalkeeper who can fight for a place as depty with Ciprian Tatarusanu.

The number one objective remains Marco Sportiello, with whom the directors have already closed an agreement over a free transfer ahead of the 2023-24 campaign. They could bring forward the arrival of the Atalanta goalkeeper by six months, but would have to pay a fee as La Dea do not want to lose him early.

Another name that has emerged in the last few hours is Alessio Cragno, who is not playing much at Monza but has plenty of experience in Serie A. Finally there is Guglielmo Vicario of Empoli, one of the best emerging Italian goalkeepers, but that would be complicated given his potential and price.
