Tuttosport: Milan’s crisis deepens in the capital – Pioli only knows ‘one way out’

AC Milan failed to provide a reaction of any kind against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico, losing 4-0 to continue a torrid run of form.

Tuttosport (via MilanNews) writes how after the Supercoppa defeat against Inter, all Milan fans expected a big response against Lazio, but unfortunately things went very differently. Instead the Rossoneri were overwhelmed 4-0 in a match dominated from the first to the last minute by Maurizio Sarri’s side.

It was an evening to forget instead for Stefano Pioli who tried to analyse what is a very difficult period at the moment during his post-match interviews.

“We have to get back to Milanello quickly and work well, it’s clear that the performances were not up to our possibilities. Right now there are so many things that aren’t working, from a mental and tactical point of view. I’m here to talk because I have to, we should shut up and work: it’s a delicate moment, in the last two weeks and a half we didn’t provide good performances,” he said.

Pioli then reiterated that the only way out of the difficult moment is to work hard on the principles that made the team successful last season.

“The approach is one of the problems, not the only one. I only know one way out: working to better develop situations who now see us in difficulty,” he said.

The Milan boss therefore took the opportunity to reiterate that there is no time for the squad to feel sorry for themselves, and instead they can only get out of the current tunnel with hard work.
