Report: Milan target De Ketelaere not interested in Leeds move despite high bid

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan target Charles De Ketelaere is not interested in a move to Leeds United they have submitted a bid to Club Brugge, a report claims.

As has been reported by Belgian newspaper HLN, the young midfielder only appears to have eyes for Milan right now and he is waiting for them to find an agreement with his current club for the move.

The bid that Leeds United made was €30 million as well as bonuses which matches what the Belgian champions have been asking for.

The first bid from Milan was €20 million and bonuses which was quickly rejected. There is a belief at Milan that the player is worth the money Club Brugge are asking for and they will make an improved bid soon.

De Ketelaere has already held talks with Stefano Pioli and Paolo Maldini and he is convinced that Milan should be his next club and hopes a deal can be found.

    1. It was Milan and Gazidis who pulled out of Botman, they decided to invest in CDK instead. Though Maldini was pushing through the transfer…
Can’t blame Botman for going the other way

    2. Botman old club, Lille, does not qualify to Champions League, so moving to Newcastle is not a regression of his European football.

On the other hand, Club Brugge qualify to Champions League, so moving to Leeds would be a regression of de Ketelaere’s European football.

Moreover, Milan need AM more than CB so I understand why Milan unwilling to spend higher on Botman.

      1. Good points. Why on earth would we spend more on Botman than we did on Tomori? People think we “lost” Botman, but I think we just decided we didn’t want to pay 30m for him so just moved on.

        1. Why on earth would we spend more on de Ketelaere than we did on Leao? People will think we “lost” de Ketelaere, but I will conclue we just decided we didn’t want to pay 35m for him so just moved on.

I’m not disputing your point by the way, you’re 100% correct. If Milan can’t afford it, then they have to move on to more attainable targets.

  1. First off lets face the facts..

CDK is better than average and that’s about it. He’s not exceptional, he’s not the next de bruyne or anything. Considering Tchouameni went for 100 mil, if CDK was the next de bruyne, we wouldn’t be able to get him. But he definitely has Potential and he fits the requirement.

I have a feeling D.Maldini will do just as well as CDK if given the chance and consistent playing time. So in my opinion we are wasting our own youth while spending 30 mil on an untested similar player.

But, if Maldini wants him, I am on board with it.
