MN: Defender unlikely to arrive before Juventus game as main targets ‘cost an arm and a leg’

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s search for a centre-back is expected to go on into the last few days of the January transfer window despite the current selection crisis, a report claims.

Pietro Mazzara’s latest editorial for MilanNews takes stock of Milan’s pursuit of a new defender, remarking that while Sven Botman is a target signing him in January will be very complicated, given that even the Lille president came out in the open and essentially ruled out a sale.

Bremer of Torino and Malang Sarr of Chelsea are considered ‘interesting profiles’ but they ‘cost an arm and a leg’ too, so it could well be that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara choose to go for a younger profile instead of someone already established.

The clues suggest that a new centre-back will not arrive before the game against Juventus on Sunday 23 January, therefore dragging into the last week of what has been ‘one of the most static winter transfer markets in recent years’ for the Rossoneri.

  1. Are they f*cking nuts at Milan!!
Kalulu is good, but he’s not a real CB. Gabbia and Romagnoli are serie b worthy. Tomorri out (and with italian doctors you never know when he will be back), Kjaer out for the season, and you tell me we don’t need a decent CB…Gabbia and Kalulu played ok againt Venezia, wait until they have Inter or Juve as opponents, you will see that we absolutely need at least one CB ASAP.
