The defeat against Liverpool and subsequent exit from European competitions has likely changed AC Milan’s transfer plans for January, a report claims.
MilanLive reports that before the game against Liverpool there were several names on the management’s agenda ahead of the window reopening next month as the club look to cover for the absence of Simon Kjaer, who will be out for six months after knee ligament surgery.
Lille’s Sven Botman and Monaco’s Benoit Badiashile were mentioned as being targets but both had €30m price tags which means it would take a significant investment, and missing out on the knockout stages has cost Milan at least €15m in additional revenues even if they have netted €45m.
However, some alternatives remain valid such as Becir Omeragic of Zurich who would cost around €12-13m plus Italy U21 international Caleb Okoli, owned by Atalanta and on loan to Cremonese.
Finally, the idea of recalling Mattia Caldara from his loan at Venezia should not be excluded either as the management looks for a solution to patch up the defence, albeit with less money to make it happen.
