Milan defender says winning another Scudetto ‘is the goal’ this season

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan defender Davide Calabria has said that winning a second Scudetto is the goal for this Rossoneri team in the 2022/23 season.

Speaking during an interview with Sky Sport Italy (via Pianeta Milan), Calabria discussed his team’s ambitions for the season as well as his physical condition as he attempts to recover from a serious injury.

Calabria has been out of action since October due to a hamstring injury that he sustained in the match away at Empoli which ended in a dramatic fashion with a Milan victory.

He is with the team at the training camp in Dubai and he confidently said: “I’ve recovered from the injury.”

Milan are in the fight for the Serie A title this season but they have an eight-point gap to close to Napoli who looked unstoppable before the World Cup break.

He stressed that the goal remains the same: “I didn’t expect such a long start to the season, nor such a strong Napoli side: the Partenopei are doing an incredible job.

“January will be a fundamental month because they have many direct clashes. Our goal remains the same: to win. Winning the second star is the goal, it will be more difficult than last year.”

On the Champions League tie against Tottenham Hotspur, Calabria said: “They are ahead of us at European level, but we want to go ahead and we are looking forward to facing them.”

  1. Stop talking for goodness sake. Do your talking on the field. Napoli aint dropping points anytime soon. They are playing like they are on fire! Cohesion, ruthless finishing, goals etc. I credit them for such a start. We should play the same way too: intense pressing , ruthless finishing, getting points even.when playing badly.

    1. Stop talking? This is his first time talking to the media after 3 months of long injury and i don’t see what’s the problem that makes you scream he needs to shut up.

And don’t overestimate Napoli. They also plays like that last season but running out of gas in the second part.
