MN: The Milan derby can be split into pre and post-Brahim – Pioli hopes his No.10 is back

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s derby win over Inter can almost be split into two parts, with the first part being before Brahim Diaz came on and the second being when the Spanish playmaker was on the field.

Stefano Pioli made the decision to field Franck Kessie as the number 10 against Inter but it didn’t work how he planned, as the Ivorian failed to establish any real physical presence, so he was brought off in favour of Brahim.

MilanNews reports how the Spaniard managed to transform recent disappointment into a positive charge, with it being the right change at the right moment to take advantage of Inter’s increasing uncertainty to change gear and start applying pressure.

The hope is that yesterday’s spark will rekindle the flame of a player who could be critically important for the Rossoneri in the final stretch of the season. Brahim is a unique player in the Milan squad because he is a step ahead of everyone in terms of the technical ability he has for the No.10 role. Pioli needs him pulling the strings, and yesterday is a start.
