CorSera: Milan have their destiny in their own hands – a final push is needed in the last 9

AC Milan overcame a big mental hurdle by beating Empoli 1-0 at San Siro on Saturday night but they must now accelerate into the final nine games.

This morning’s edition of il Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) writes how Milan now have their destiny in their own hands because Inter’s draw against Torino last night negates the possibility of jumping above the Rossoneri by winning the game in hand against Bologna.

That means that by winning all games between now and the end of the season, Milan would be sure of winning the Scudetto. Obviously it will not be easy and some might say it is almost impossible to do, but finally being able to control their own destiny could be a big advantage for Milan.

The team have dropped too many points so far against sides in the bottom half of the table but on Saturday against Andreazzoli’s side the Rossoneri risked very little, scoring and holding on to the lead with relative ease.

This is the right time to accelerate and try to give the final push, with games against Cagliari, Bologna, Torino and Genoa all coming up, which are all games absolutely within the reach of the squad. They must prove their blips against lesser-ranking sides are over.
