Sky: Milan directors avoid fans through side entrance while players face chants

Last night a private party was held for AC Milan players and staff to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the club’s founding, but it was marred by protest.

The Curva Sud gathered outside the entrance to the venue of the event and waited for arrivals, chanting against the owner Gerry Cardinale and the current management, labelling them incompetent.

According to Manuele Baiocchini of Sky (via MilanNews), the directors avoided confrontation with the Rossoneri fans because they were ‘advised not to go through the main entrance’ as others did.

Instead, they went through a side door and that means they were not seen by the Curva. The reasons, despite the protest having been announced as peaceful and taking place without problems, were public order related.

The problem with this is that while figures like Giorgio Furlani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic went in unopposed, certain players were left to face the wrath of the Curva outside the main entrance.

The likes of Rafael Leao, Theo Hernandez, Alvaro Morata, Davide Calabria, Fikayo Tomori and others had chants aimed at them. It left the whole evening feeling rather uncomfortable, and fans on social media have been debating whether a line was crossed by the supporters.

  1. Very courageous of this management they created this mess but won’t face the music.
Milan have no hope of winning anything under this regime!
Supporters nightmare till a change for the better maybe?

  2. Cowards.
The players and coach faced up to the fans on the way in. But tough guy Ibrahimovic and his yes men sneak in the back door.

My friend that lives in Milan have me the heads up on this story. It got a lot of coverage last night.

Meanwhile Inter were hammering Lazio by 6 goals in Rome.

  3. Embarrassing from the management. Instead of standing in front of the team, protect them and face the consequences of their actions, they hide like a bunch of sissies from the people that pay their salaries. Paolo always stood by his players and shielded them.

Furlani the snake, Moncada the chicken and Ibra the pooch. A bunch of little Gerry w*nk stains.

  4. Forrest Gump (“K”, I belive is his nickname) would find this incorrect. What a true patriot, I hear Hulk Hogan’s music whenever this dude tries to put his thought into words.

    1. To be fair Forrest Gump is a pretty classy character despite his diminished wits he is still a great man of the world.

Being critical of US owners unfortunately now means xenohobia amongst some of this websites frequent commenters and that despite at least in my case some of my biggest heroes amongst artists are or was in fact Americans. Tom Waits, Captain Beefheart, Zappa, Dylan, Iggy Pop, Cash, Hank Williams, Those poor B@stards, Bill Hicks, Carlin, Burroughs, Ginsberg and I could keep going for the next couple of hours 😀
