AC Milan are likely to be disappointed in their pursuit of Marco Asensio as he is on the verge of renewing his deal with Real Madrid, a report claims.
According to the latest from The Athletic, the saga surrounding Asensio and his future should soon come to an end as he is expected to renew his contract with Real Madrid.
The forward has now been at the Santiago Bernabeu for seven years and has been in talks with Los Blancos for some time over extending his deal, which expires at the end of the season.
As per a source close to the negotiations, the club and the player ‘will come to an agreement’. Meanwhile, sources at Madrid also believe the 27-year-old will stay beyond the summer, as Carlo Ancelotti ‘has told the club several times that he wants Asensio to stay’.
The report adds that unnamed Premier League clubs and teams such as Milan – who have been following Asensio for a year – and Juventus have shown an interest in the Spain international, but his intention is to remain at Madrid.
