Di Marzio: Milan begin discussions with Roma for Dovbyk-Gimenez swap – the details

This morning, AC Milan’s entire front line could take a new shape. A new striker will arrive, whilst discussions have begun for another.

In the final days of the mercato, everything can change; that is a well-known fact at this point. However, the level of change at Milan seems borderline panicky at this stage, with several irons in the fire.

Nevertheless, shortly after Santiago Gimenez’s agent stated that he would not leave the Rossoneri, there is a chance that it may now happen.

Dovbyk for Gimenez?

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the club have begun talks with Roma regarding a move for Artem Dovbyk, who was a target for the Diavolo last summer, whilst his name has also been mentioned this year.

The theory, though, is that Milan would swap the former Feyenoord striker for the Ukrainian, given they are both similar in terms of financials. In January, it cost around €35 million, including bonuses, to bring the Mexican, whilst the Giallorossi paid around €30m last summer.

Neither really hit the ground running since moving to Italy, but the Roma man may be more of the mould that Massimiliano Allegri would like, whilst Gimenez has reportedly not been his ideal since he arrived.

    1. Are you joking ? I am 100% sure you have never seen the guy play before Milan got scammed. He can only score when he is not covered so rarely and the ball rolls the way so he can hit it with his left so also rarely. In the box he can’t play back to the goal and will nearly always try to switch it to his left and he is super slow doing that. He can play in Austria, Belgium or Netherlands and Dutch league is known for no defence. Even Turkish clubs who buy anyone didn’t want him. It was a panic buy and that is all.

  1. Gimenez is a better goal scorer, Dovbyk better at shielding and being a target man. Dovbyk needs too many chances to score and let’s be honest, we couldn’t create enough against a fng b-class Cremonese!! Keep Gimenez.

    1. Gimenez was bullied by B- Class Cremonese, including on their winning goal.
He helps with absolutely nothing in the creation of chances.

  2. I remember Dovbyk during his last 2 seasons at Girona. He is a better striker than Gimenez. He would fit Milan better. His first season in Serie A was decent but most strikers struggle during their first season in Serie A unless you are Shevchenko or Brazilian Ronaldo.

  3. Allegri kebanyakan mau nya.

  4. If Allegri is such a Great Coach and Experience one as the Italian‘s do and Show him, then why he doesnt change his perception of the game with the Squad he has, cause he has no tactical Club to bind them to a new System with the players he has! He reaches out for players he had 10 year’s ago to play the Same out Dated system wich he lost 2 times the CHL. Giminez is a goal poachet like Inzaghi was kinda, he wants to play like 10 year‘s ago with OLD CF system, doesnt make sense at all.

  5. Believe me, Allegri himself is sick and tired of these jimenez/gimenez.
The first literally shіttеd on the coach and his companions. Was punished and benched. ..against Cremonese showed his worst. Out !
And the mexican enjoyed eating burritos at home for 2 extra weeks while the squad was training hard at Milanello ☀️😬 Then came late claiming he’s #1

    1. What do you mean he came late, claiming he is #1 – he has international duties as well, you can’t blame him for that – just be glad Pulisic decided to prioritize the club over the USNT and is crucified there for missing their matches. Also, he never claimed he is #1, but currently he still is the only one striker in our squad.

Allegri doesn’t have the 1 player from the current offensive players that is good fit for his 3-5-2. It’s already September and we are working on 2-3 last minute transfers to meet his needs. Just f-ing change your tactics and make the best use of your current star players, who are useless in this system. Leao will struggle but remain a starter. Pulisic’s best place is between the lines or he will become a bench warmer.

    2. WTF are you talking about?
You keep posting the same lie here, but we know
Gimenez was playing for Mexico and then had a holiday. Fair and square.

Change your profile name, you are an insult to the real Sheva legend.

      1. Go and support your Inter Merda)
Posting lies ?) it’s bitter truth))
        I have ears near Milanello)
Gimenez is on his way 👉👉out

  6. OMG, that would be the most retarded move of all times! A younger 35 million guy, who was never given a chance, to be swapped with a unwanted Roma reject. Screw that!

Stop helping romans by collecting their scrap. First Abraham, now this. My god, this team would suck balls this season. Disgusting.

  7. I don’t get it. If this is true, is Dovbyk really any better than Gimenez for us?
There’s a good striker in Gimenez. Give him some chance and he will do a decent job.

  9. Give Gimenez to Gasperini and he will create a new Retegui out of him, Roma will finish ahead of Milan, just like this season with the Salemakers. If Milan do this, they are a worse club than Manchester United and will suffer their fate. Loan Dovbyk, leave Gimenez, bring Akanji, bring right back instead of Jimenez, bring Nkunka, sell Chuka and Musah, and bring Rabiot. Milan like this would be complete and capable of fighting for the Scudetto. From the sale of Musah and Chuku take 45 million, pay Nkunku 37, pay Rabiot 13 million, that’s 50. So, from these operations -5 million.

  10. Good get the deal done and we have a good striker who scores goals especially with creators like Leao, Puli and Modric

  11. This swap makes more sense now that Nkunku is here. This way you get the dynamic attacker in the Frenchman and a box striker in Dovbyk. In theory anyway.

Santi hasn’t been given enough time, but also hasn’t improved AT ALL since last winter. He was so poor last game.
