The game between Red Bull Salzburg and AC Milan allowed Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara to view the qualities of the talented Maurits Kjaergaard first hand, and they were impressed.
Calciomercato.com report that Milan have had Kjaergaard’s name on their list for at least two years – dating back even to when he played at Salzburg’s feeder club Liefering – and they are well aware of the speed, vision and potential he possesses.
Despite his very young age (19), the Danish talent already shown that he can play in Europe’s elite competition and hold his own against some of the better players on the continent, mixing an excellent work rate with technical quality and an eye for end product.
Kjaergaard is a diamond that Salzburg intend to work with for a couple of more seasons in search of a definitive tactical position, because he can play as a box-to-box player, as a winger or even an attacking midfielder.
However, Milan have already talked to the agency that represents him and though the most likely scenario is another season in Austria then a move to Salzburg’s sister club RB Leipzig, Maldini and Massara were impressed seeing him live and could make a concrete attempt in the coming months to try to put some doubts on a project already underway.
